having just finished re-watching trainspotting, i realised how much i love begby as a bad guy.
got me thinking who are the best movie baddies?
my votes are going to
begbie (robert carlisle) for just being a brilliantly violent sociopath
alan rickman in die hard for the terrible accent
and maybe heath ledger for batman

Ralph Fiennes in Schindler's List, Harry Potter and Red Dragon comes to mind. He's vile and nasty in all three.

Jux · 30/01/2009 12:57

Gary Oldham is a fabulous baddie.

VinegarTits · 30/01/2009 13:11

Ruger Hauer in The Hitcher
Joaquin Pheonix in The Gladiator
Christian Bale in American Psycho

Thunderduck · 30/01/2009 19:29

Darth Vader of course.

And any villain played by Ralph Fiennes.

He always adds a little humanity to his villains which I love.

CharCharGabor · 30/01/2009 19:30

Heath Ledger as the Joker. I just love him. Also Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs. He is quite terrifying.

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 19:42

Darth Vader
Heath Ledger the Joker
Kaiser Sosa

Oh so many (I do love the bad guys )

One that springs to mind now though is Michael Madsen as Mr Blonde in Reservoir Dogs.

janeite · 31/01/2009 21:36

He's not a bad guy in the end of course but in the films so far he appears to be: Alan Rickman as Snape.

kidcreoleandthecoconuts · 31/01/2009 21:41

Ray Liotta playing the mafia gangster Henry Hill in .....I've forgotten the name of the film

James Gandolfini in True Romance.

Christopher Walken in same movie, in fact whenever he plays a villain.

Eric Bana - Chopper

Heath Ledger - The Joker

Agree with Ralph Fiennes, he is an amazing villain.

Denzel Washington - American Gangster.

Fleurlechaunte · 01/02/2009 09:27

Oh and the very worst Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men.

Thunderduck · 01/02/2009 11:10

Oh yes anyone played by Christopher Walken, he's an incredible actor. Too many to name, though I have a particular fondness for his Gabriel in The Prophecy.

RaggedRobin · 01/02/2009 21:29

molesworth: i'll fight you for him

scorpio in dirty harry always scared me - he's such a baddie he even beats himself up.

the captain in pan's labyrinth was horrid.

most evil of all, of course, is the childcatcher from chitty chitty bang bang.
