The Tale of Despereaux - any good for 3 and 4 year old girls?

I'm thinking of taking them for their first cinema trip this week and wondered if they'd like it?

It's quite dark in places and the bad rat character is rather frightening. I took my 4 (nearly 5) year old dd who seemed to enjoy it but needed reassurance in the scary parts. I wouldn't personally want to sit through it again as I found it rather inconsistent in tone and it dragged a bit from time to time as well. I think it might be a bit much for easily scared 3/4 year olds but I did see children of that age in the cinema.
