Sat and watched the 1939 original last night and it's every bit as amazing as I remember it being. Am looking forward to seeing the remake as from the trailers it does look like they have remained faithful to the original story and characters.

Anyone else a fan of the original?

I love the original too. Bit worried about the remake, don't want them to screw it up. And I don't really like Meg Ryan.

Oh Goodie - someone who shares my passion for this film. YAY! I hope Meg Ryan doesn't screw it up and I am relying on superb performances from the rest of the cast, I so hope they don't make it a meg vehicle and take away from the supporting characters!

That's partly why I love the original so much, because the rest of the cast are so superb. Watching it last night I laughed, I cried, I clapped. It is seriously an amazing film.

I love the original one. Didn't know about the remake. I loathe remakes in general... and this one has meg ryan in??? oh dear......

It would keep all the dialogue from the original film and keep it the same but maybe slightly different settings. The dialogue is so witty and brilliant!

i looked it up on imdb at the weekend and someone had commented

has anybody actually seen this film

there is no review and no rating

i suspect it is crap

francagoestohollywood · 15/09/2008 12:38

Yes, the dialogue was fab. George Cukor a great director. I miss proper sophisticated comedies.

beanieb · 15/09/2008 13:00

I think it's could be ok, the trailer certainly suggests they have kept a lot of the physical comedy from the original and some of the dialogue here

it is out Zippitippities. Maybe it's not getting people into the cinemas!

i know it is on here thats why i looked it up

beanieb · 15/09/2008 13:02

I've not seen it - would love to hear from people who have. I suspect there will be a lot of people going who are fans of the original and then some who just think it's some new chick flick. Already there are comments on youtube that it's copying 'sex and the city' which make me laugh seeing as it's such an old film originally!

Oh and - I Love love love the opening titles of the original here

I love the original. Fabulous.
Will be interested to see this version.

Went and saw the remake last night but haven't seen the original to make a comparison.

I thought Meg Ryan was good (although I was a bit too focused on her HUGE lips). Annette Bening (Sylvie) was good, Debra Messing (the hippie looking one with loads of kids) was fab and Jada Pinkett Smith (the lesbian)had me in stiches.

Eva Mendes was okay but wasn't in the film much to make a comment.

I liked the film and would recommend it.

Anything anyone wants to know about it?????

nappyaddict · 26/09/2008 13:04

I thought it was a bit boring. There were some good bits and some funny bits but there was a lot of boring bits inbetween and it did seem to drag.

Lauriefairycake · 05/10/2008 10:33

I thought this was one of the worst films I've ever sat through

The original is funny and sassy - this one is really really not.

Libra1975 · 05/10/2008 10:37

I also thought it was the worse film I have ever seen. If a man goes to see this film they will wonder why they ever gave women the vote. Also to be able to act you need to be able to move your face. Meg and Annette I mean you. Eva Mendes can't act anyway.
It was terrible.

The one good thing - Candice Bergan rocks.

womblingalong · 05/10/2008 12:04

It was truly awful!
