Just watched Tenzing, an absolutely beautiful and feel good movie. I really recommend it.

We thought it a lovely film

Loved it.

I like to think the mountain chose those two great men to successfully climb her, as opposed to the other challengers there had been before

Excellent film. I must admit this one had passed me by, till a friend recommended it and I realised DH would like it as he's quite into this type of topic. I went along mostly to keep him company (though the prospect of seeing Tom Hiddleston may have been a bit of an incentive) but I found myself really loving it. It's one of those films which really benefit from being seen in the cinema rather than on TV.

The filming was incredible. It makes you wonder if the leaders attitude and the comment "this is a British mountain" really happened. If so I'm glad a Kiwi and a local did it.

I would love to think that.

I loved it too. I am fascinated by the history of Everest expeditions.

If you're interested, Tom Hiddleston spoke about the filming on the Romesh podcast recently.

Ooh I’ll have to see this. My late grandparents met Tenzing Norgay when he and Hillary stayed with friends of theirs on a lecture visit to the UK a few years after the ascent. My grandmother said he was a charming, very humble and modest man 😊

I watched it yesterday, and what one of the Sherpa’s said about the ‘putting spikes in her bones’ really struck with me.

It was a great reminder me the spiritual connection they have with their goddess. Not simply ‘because it was there’ attitude that the British climbers had.

I really hope the Mr Amazing thing happened with the teacher!

Has it been out long? Wanted to see it on Saturday and it’s not on anywhere!

Cheesecake53 · 28/10/2026 16:09

It is on apple TV.

Can’t wait to see this!!

There was a thread a few months ago about climbers mentality and someone commented on the book “Into Thin Air”. I have/had no interest in climbing but I ordered it and loved it - the mind of a climber, the abuse of Everest, the money, the risk, deaths… can’t wait to see this film!

Good but far too long.
