Anyone else looking forward to the latest Spiderman? Have tickets booked to see this on Friday! The trailer looks great.

Yes. I'm very much looking forward to it.

I watched No Way Home yesterday in anticipation. And then fell down a rabbit hole reading fan theory about what's going to happen in the MCU next.

I saw Supergirl last week as well which I enjoyed. It reignited the DC vs Marvel debate in this house.

mum2jakie · 27/07/2026 10:28

Ah I was disappointed in Supergirl which was a surprise, as I absolutely loved the newest Superman film.

Think I'll rewatch the Spider-Man films this week too, ahead of seeing the newest.

The newest Superman was very good indeed.

I've had surgery recently and been using the recovery time to watch the MCU chronologically. I moved on to Batman and have just re-watched all the Spider-man films.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 27/07/2026 21:48

Feel got it right so far with the Spiderman films so hopefully this continues...

The next Avengers however looks terrible so least won't be disappointed when that comes out if it is

britneyisfreebutnotokay · 27/07/2026 22:08

Rewatching them all atm ready for release. Skipping doing bedtime and taking myself off to watch it alone. Can’t wait!

YouBelongWithMe · 29/07/2026 23:49

Saw it tonight. It is EXCELLENT. Best Spider-Man film yet, IMO.

Good to hear! We've got tickets booked for tomorrow night. One of my adult kids is staying off the internet until then as he is worried about getting 'spoilered' beforehand!

My son is pestering to go and see it but I've not watched any of the previous ones since the one with the upside down kiss! Will it be ok as a stand alone or will I not have a clue what's occurring?

The new one is following on from previous film (No Way Home) so might be best to watch that beforehand. All of the Spider-Man films are on BBC Iplayer currently so you could catch up - there are three previous Tom Holland films to watch.

Ah, thank you, we might have to have a bit of a Spider-Man weekend by the sound of it!

HoldingOntoMySanity · 31/07/2026 22:55

Watched it yesterday and LOVED it!

I was never a Marvel fan but have been dragged to many by my autistic teen. I was bewitched by No Way home and loved Brand New day more than said teen did! I'd go again. Tom Holland I think is really maturing as an actor. Always good (if anyone saw him as a young teen in The Impossible it was pretty clear then he was a talent).

HoldingOntoMySanity · 31/07/2026 22:55

Oh- and loved The Black Widow scenes.

Honestly, I think I'm going to have to go again this weekend.

ShowOfHands · 31/07/2026 23:25

I've just got back from watching it. It was very well done indeed, though I am increasingly feeling that films are just a shade too long. I saw The Odyssey yesterday and felt similarly antsy. 3hrs is around 40 minutes too long.

Love Frank and Ned. Black Widow was superb.

I agree that Tom Holland really is maturing as an actor. There were tears in the cinema and then later, cheers and applause. I haven't seen that reaction since End Game.

mum2jakie · 31/07/2026 23:36

Just got back! That was amazing!!! Best spider-man yet! I cried through most of the film! Cinema was packed solid.

Aah so glad you enjoyed it!

I definitely cried.

I'm away and so watched it at 10.30 am on a friday morning. Not packed- about 30 people, and most of those had come by mini-bus from the local sheltered housing project. It was brilliant- everyone else had costumes on and there was such a wonderful sense of cameraderie of people going because they love the films. One of the best experiences I've had at the cinema.

vichill · 01/08/2026 00:00

Saw it today, and agree it’s the best SpiderMan. I’m a wimp so cried several times. Few big laughs too. I loved the SpiderMan POV shots.

BigWig78 · 01/08/2026 11:48

Excellent film and yes I think it was the best Spider-Man one to date. Really enjoyed it and so did the teens.

ShowOfHands · 01/08/2026 12:02

The Spider-Man POV shots made me feel dizzy!

Our local cinema isn't huge and usually there are only a few people in it. Yesterday was a sell out and people were wearing Spider-Man t-shirts and some children were dressed up. There was a real buzz and lots of audience reaction. It felt really lovely.

I know Black Widow and Banner were only background characters but I think I would have liked more of them.

Valeyard15 · 08/08/2026 23:47

Watched it with DD - great fun. About half an hour too long, though.

TheMarriageOfAirAndFrock · 09/08/2026 20:11

It was fantastic!

Stunning flight scenes; a terrifying adversary, characters I was thrilled to see. And prompted genuine emotion (in me, at least).

I’d paused my regular cinema attendance over the summer - this was a fabulous re-entry. Also unusual to see the largest auditorium at my local Curzon absolutely full on a Sunday afternoon.

I imagine it may not mean much if one isn’t a follower of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After years of enforced immersion via taking a child to endless films I finally gave up and watched them all in proper chronological order. And then I understood. So I was able to comprehend and appreciate references in this film.

It’s the least disappointing in its genre that I’ve seen for years!

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Review: The Best MCU Movie In Years

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' works so well not just because it avoids all the pitfalls so many modern superhero movies fall into, but because it sticks the landing.

Terrifying adversary?

BEAchDays2 · 16/08/2026 20:58

Far too long, but really enjoyed Sadie S, also it’s impossible not to enjoy Zendaya and Tom Holland, it just looks like they are having so much fun making these films, and that comes across on the screen. I’m not a Spider-Man fan, and I haven’t seen any of the others, but it was a perfectly passible way to spend 90 minutes. I left about half an hour before the end because it was just too long.

mum2jakie · 18/08/2026 19:36

Can't imagine walking out of any film half an hour before the ending! The ending was great! I was a big wet mess!
