Looking for some film recommendations for these rainy days & nights. To give you an idea of what we like/dislike, we tried to watch The Rip last night, didn't really understand it, got bored and turned it off, so probably not US cop stuff. Loved The Holdovers and am not adverse to a psychological thriller but not horror. I'm also sorry to say I quite enjoyed Eurovision 🤣

Thank you x

Tick Tick Boom!

it’s a musical about a guy trying to make it as a musical writer. It’s a true story (he wrote Rent!). It’s on Netflix, well worth 90 mins of anyone’s time.

Thank you, will look at these. Watched "Woman in Cabin 10" last night before seeing your replies - not the best, similar standard to a C5 drama series!

Life of Chuck. Random but excellent Tom Hiddleston.

I watched The Swedish Connection lady night, it's a feel good film about how the Swedes saved 100,000 Jews during ww2.
It's not dark.

The hunt for the wilderpeople. A New Zealand classic

The chalk line on Netflix is great. Horror wise there’s a film called Abigail that’s worth a watch. A film called prisoners with Hugh jackman is really good and another one called Reptile. Both thrillers. I also enjoyed Equaliser with Denzil Washington.

Another good but under rated M Night Shyamalan film on Netflix is Knock at the cabin.

The Cellar Door was good, surprise twist at the end

userzerozerozero · 23/02/2026 20:11

Agree about Swedish Connection being worth a watch, based on a true story I think it was really entertaining

StudyinBlue · 23/02/2026 20:40

I know you said not US cops but watched ‘The Guilty’ with Jake Gyllenhaal. Really interesting premise. He’s on a punishment assignment in a Police control room. The whole film is basically him trying to sort out a particular situation. Lots of twists and turns and really griping.
