It was on our list of films we wanted to see, but never got round to. Our tiny local film club had it on last night.
Very funny. No unecessary dialogue either. There wasn't any of it which I thought, oh, it would have worked without that. Touching too. Great film. Good sentiment at the end too.
We all clapped. Fab.

loved it.....the grandad was fab.....the dance routine at the end !!!!!!

northernrefugee39 · 15/06/2008 19:39

Yes the Grandad, and the teenage son....my friend and I had a couple of sessions of laughter so hysterical we almost wet ourselves... the car horn dying and the policeman finding the porn mags- wonderful.
The dance routine too at the end was just great....
And several bits which could have gone too much the wrong way , were just right... the body out of the window etc...

i know!!!!!!! when she dedicates the routine to her grandad and they ask her where he is....... "in the trunk of our car"........classic LOL

PestoMonster · 15/06/2008 20:30

It is one of my all-time favourite films.

WelliesAndPyjamas · 15/06/2008 20:34

great film - just remembering the ending makes me giggle out loud

northernrefugee39 · 15/06/2008 20:39

The ending is hysterical. life affirming too. All together as dysfunctionals! Love it. the way they danced>
I think it's going to be one of my all time best too.....

loved it too.

wasabipeanut · 15/06/2008 20:44

Yeah I really loved it. Funny and just a little bit twisted. The ending was truly ace in a "oh my god, is this really happenning?" sort of way.

ProfessorGrammaticus · 15/06/2008 20:45

Me too

Caz10 · 17/06/2008 17:41

the car horn and the pushing/running/jumping to get in it was genius!

MrsKing · 17/06/2008 18:58

Loved it

northernrefugee39 · 18/06/2008 07:17

Caz- yes, the car horn dying a death and starting it's groan was hysterical... and the jumping in too..reminds me of cars we had as kids..

harpsichordcarrier · 18/06/2008 08:16

voila

Umlellala · 18/06/2008 08:28

With you Custardo. Thought it was exactly my kinda film (and LOVE Toni Collette) but both dh and I found it a bit dull and pointless. Maybe we weren't in the right mood.

plumandolive · 18/06/2008 10:12

Oh thanks harpsi
Umlellala, I thought it was the opposite of pointless, I thought it was really pointy and life affirming.

Umlellala · 18/06/2008 11:18

at pointy!
That's what I love about art/films/theatre etc etc. It's all completely subjective.

I think it's because I was really expecting to like it. And STILL can't work out why I didn't. So it surprised me.

Now Juno, THAT lived up to my expectations!!

northernrefugee39 · 18/06/2008 12:27

""O pointy birds, o pointy pointy; anoint my head ? anointy-nointy." one of my favourite Steve Martin moments....

Juno- ooh, one to see. I don't get out enough....
