Avery charming and poignant film with some laughs to boot. Worth a watch.

I’m going tomorrow with Dd2!

Saw it today and it was SO GOOD!! I absolutely loved it, but it was such a roller coaster of emotions - I reckon I cried about 8 times. Love to see Brendan Fraser back on the up, he seems like a nice guy

I thought it was grim. Poor child being deceived. Also thought the rating was wrong at 12A with prostitute and strip club scenes.

I really enjoyed it as well, it's got terrible reviews though. I thought it was very well acted and a lovely balance of being quite light hearted but also quite serious at times as well as being quite thought provoking

Saw this today- absolutely loved it. I’d seen mainly good reviews, but didn’t really know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised.

I loved it. Agree the strip club was unnecessary- a better character arc for that particular person could’ve been walking up a hill or something engaging with the real world.

just back from seeing it. What a sweet film. Loved it. Loved all the Japanese culture/traditions/scenery woven through it.

Lovely wholesome film. Got free tickets and won’t have normally chose it but so glad we went.

I thought it was wonderful, Brendan Fraser is such a magnificent actor and I was in buckets of tears for a lot of it. I didn’t think there was anything unnecessary in the film anything depicted was making a point about him or the job he was doing.

I went to see Hamnett a few nights ago and to me this was a much more moving and genuine film and Brendan Fraser can act the socks off Paul Mescal.

PinterandPirandello · 22/01/2026 18:02

I enjoyed it. It was sweet and simple.

I have been reading reviews. It seems like another marmite film, The Guardian reviewer hated it. There’s been a few films recently with mixed responses and I think it’s a healthy thing as encourages discussion and hopefully more bums on cinema seats.

Oh and I really want to go to Japan now.

I also really enjoyed it.

Now showing on Disney Plus

Just saw it on Disney and really enjoyed it, but was a bit cowed by the Guardian slasher review.
