What film shall we watch tonight?

Dh and I are having a quiet NYE in tonight. We'd like to watch a film that we may have missed this year (not big cinema-goers). We have access to Freeview, Netscape and Amazon. We like comedy and drama. Dislike horror and violence (me, anyway!).

What do you suggest?

If you can stream it, Now You See Me, Now You Don’t is available.

Damsel is amazing, I’d highly recommend it.

We watched The Great Escaper on Boxing night it was about the man who "escaped" his care home to go the D Day celebrations, it was delightful without being to twee, it is on iplayer.

Daytimetellyqueen · 31/12/2025 19:46

I Swear is excellent. Wicked Little Letters was also very good, very funny!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 31/12/2025 19:53

If you havn’t seen it - Sully - is excellent.

ETA - even though it’s a few years old

Coffeeishot · 31/12/2025 19:54

Is I swear on prime? I don't have netflix and it had limited showing at my cinema and I missed it.

NellieJean · 31/12/2025 20:14

A Simple Favour. I’ve only just seen it even thought it’s been out for years. Anna Kendrick is fab.

Pandorea · 31/12/2025 20:20

I think A Real Pain was my favourite film of this year.

I thought it was awful - so depressing! Appreciate it got great reviews but not my cup of tea at all & certainly not Christmassy!
