Sinners
Weapons
Bring Her Back

Anora sucked.

uhtredofbattenberg · 27/12/2025 00:53

Best film . Seen at the cinema- We live in Time

Worst (seen at home) The Surfer, with Nicolas Cage. One of the worst films I've seen full stop.

Not yet seen Ballad, I swear.

LorettaY · 27/12/2025 01:02

Best was Frankenstein

Worst was Nosferatu after such a build up. Sorry but Lily Rose Depp can’t act well.

Sinners
Weapons
Bring Her Back

Anora sucked.

Bring Her Back was excellent.

Christmaseree · 27/12/2025 08:29

My DS’s write a list of films they watch all year and rate them and then discuss the top three and bottom three on Christmas Day. I’m going to do it in 2026 because it’s really hard to remember them all.
I try and watch all the foreign film Oscar nominations, there’s normally some really ones in the list.

FlyingUnicornWings · 27/12/2025 08:34

The Long Walk was the best.

I also surprisingly really loved Minecraft and Stitch. 😂

BellaPommefritio · 27/12/2025 08:35

Agree with first post entirely but would add Sinners

Abracadabra12345 · 27/12/2025 09:19

Best at cinema:
I Swear
Sunset Boulevard (vintage film cinema screening)
Black Bag
A Complete Unknown (about Bob Dylan)
Salt Path ( before the controversy)

Home: Last Christmas (multiple screenings!)

Worst (cinema):
Better Man (about Robbie Williams)
The Roses

LadyKenya · 27/12/2025 09:30

Sinners was the best
Bring Her Back, the worst.

berlinbaby2025 · 27/12/2025 09:53

Best films:

Sorry, Baby
A Real Pain

Worst:

Superman

SocksAndTheCity · 27/12/2025 16:06

Best:
Sinners
One Battle After Another (the top 2 are pretty much even)
Weapons
Final Destination: Bloodlines
Sorry, Baby
Warfare
It Was Just An Accident

Honourable mentions to No Other Choice, because it's not on general release yet (January?) and Roofman, because it deserves far more love than it got.

In the middle was Materialists (first half good, second half shit) and I also liked Caught Stealing and Life of Chuck. I'm seeing Zootropolis 2 tomorrow or Monday 😀

Worst:
Eddington (really disappointing to see Ari Aster & Joaquin Phoenix just phoning it in)
Together (banal story and shit ending)
Happyend (fell asleep, no idea what was happening)
Balearic (half arsed, incomprehensible twaddle)
F1 (fell asleep even despite Brad Pitt)

The ones that would have been my worst of the year I avoided because I knew they would be, so Tron: Ares, Mickey 17, Avatar whatever-it-is, Jay Kelly, that thing about Bob Dylan (I don't even like the real Bob Dylan).

TigerRag · 27/12/2025 16:09

Sinners, a complete unknown, Wicked, Snow White

Didn't like Christmas Karma

mum2jakie · 27/12/2025 22:20

tennissquare · 27/12/2025 22:39

My best at the cinema
I swear
The Ballard of wallis island

the worst at the cinema
The Choral - I had such high hopes and thought it was dire.

cockandbullstories · 28/12/2025 17:37

The best One Battle after Another
the worst Die My Love 😬

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/12/2025 17:45

Best at the cinema = The Long Walk
Best on TV = Rye Lane

Nosferatu (cinema) was dire.

We're going to see The Choral at the weekend - now fear that may be a mistake.

Sturmundcalm · 28/12/2025 20:37

I found the majority of The Choral really disappointing - it just wasn't what I'd expected... BUT, the performance (in the film) towards the end made me glad I'd seen it in a cinema - had a proper emotional reaction to it.

My memory is terrible but my favourites included Conclave (was really glad I'd seen that in the cinema), Wake Up Dead Man, September 5 and A Real Pain.

My worst was the final Mission Impossible film - truly truly dreadful. And Tom Cruise as "Spy Jesus" was just ridiculous.

I liked One Battle After Another but don't totally get the overwhelming adoration of it.
