Is this worth bothering with? Was on BBC 1 a few days ago - still on iPlayer. Never read the novel, but I remember the fuss about it.

Being on telly so soon after release doesn't bode well...

I guess it depends on what you mean by worth it. It's hardly National Theatre calibre, but was moderately entertaining fluff not requiring full attention, and I generally like Anne Hathaway.

Caught the end of it the other week. Absolutely dire. It's the kind of story where, when you say you have an alternative life going on in your head and someone says "you should write a novel", this would be the result. So bad, that I'm going to watch it again with my daughters over Christmas if it's still on iPlayer.

Did you watch it, I enjoyed it, I followed it up with Purple Hearts on Netflix which had the same actor in it and was equally enjoyable in its direness

I enjoyed it! The lead actors were very good. A delightful bit of fluff in the lead-up to Christmas.

Always daydreamed about having a toyboy, so I'll have to check this out 😁

The novel was very... explicit. They must have cleaned it up a lot to turn it into romantic fluff!

I loved the book. The film is cute and watchable but not a patch on the book
