Just finished watching this film on Netflix. Apparently it’s their No. 1 trending film.

Now I’ve watched some drivel in my life but good fucking lord this was exceptionally shite.

I cannot think of one part of the storyline that was at all plausible, gripping or well thought out, let alone accompanied by decent acting. Halfway through I did wonder whether it was supposed to be tongue in cheek comedy but sadly not, although it would have been better advertised as one…

Anyone else seen it? Am I being too harsh?!

No! I’m only 30 mins in and decided that’s already half an hour of my life I won’t get back!! 😂🤣 so many TV/film dramas are so badly written these days or totally unbelievable. It’s like the TV equivalent of junk food!

Junibug · 16/10/2025 22:32

Don’t bother continuing! Although the ending will give you a laugh….

I loved that hut she stumbled across when she swam off the boat, the fire was already loaded with kindling and she found a lovely woollen jumper to wear 🤣

Larrylobstersrollerskate · 16/10/2025 22:39

I’m almost tempted to watch it now just for the absolute sheer absurdity. So funny your post appeared just as I was thinking WTF is this rubbish and started scrolling MN instead! 😆

TeaRoseTallulah · 16/10/2025 22:40

It was shockingly bad,wasn't it?

AllJoyAndNoFun · 16/10/2025 22:41

I didn’t bother watching the last 30 mins ( after the first denouement) so please don’t tell me there was some amazing plot twist.

SixSeven · 16/10/2025 22:42

I was in two minds whether to watch it this as Cabin 10 is probably my least favourite of Ruth Ware’s books. I have loved most of the others. Anyway, don’t think I’ll bother, reading these reviews!

AllJoyAndNoFun · 16/10/2025 22:43

The frustrating thing is that it could have been really good if they’d slowed it down, made it, say, a 4 episode mini series, really developed all the characters etc to build suspense and “who dunnit vibes” but they decided to jam it into 90 mins and made it both stupidly fast and also turgid at the same time.

OnlyOnAFriday · 16/10/2025 22:44

Absolute rubbish. Keira knitley must be skint or something, second pile of shit I’ve seen her in recently.

slipperypenguin · 16/10/2025 22:44

Yeh it really was the biggest pile of shite I’ve ever watched

teacupzs · 16/10/2025 22:45

It was basically a c5 matinee film with a bigger budget

WombatCowgirl · 16/10/2025 22:47

The plot twist was identical to a Sherlock Holmes story too. It was very dark to watch too, I mean visually nor emotionally!

FanofLeaves · 16/10/2025 22:48

And what a waste of Hannah Waddingham! She had about five lines.

WearyAuldWumman · 16/10/2025 22:48

I've only seen the trailer. Looks like an attempt to update The Lady Vanishes?

ArthriticOldLabrador · 16/10/2025 22:49

it was truly shit

profiterolesarelovely · 16/10/2025 22:52

Keira Knightley tries her best lift it. A valiant effort but you can’t polish a turd

Member984815 · 18/10/2025 13:02

I watched last weekend, rubbish . The twist was obvious from the start . I agree with pp the lady vanishes rip off

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 18/10/2025 13:35

It was so very bad.

How did Keira get into the gala without being apprehended?

Why does Keira Knightley always play the same alarmed, panting, wide eyed, shocked woman?

Dippythedino · 18/10/2025 13:37

Keira Knightly does a good job of looking permanently startled and insane most of the time. It could have been better acted but I love Guy Pierce so I watched it for him. 😍

JMSA · 18/10/2025 23:32

I enjoyed it but agree that it was really bad. A contradiction, I know!

BobLobla · 19/10/2025 00:10

This was PANTS and not even enjoyable pants like some Netflix-type films. A huge waste of some usually great actors who just phoned in their performances. Wtf was the point of Paul Kay’s character?! Ditto David Morrissey and Hannah Waddington.
I hope all involved get to buy something nice from their fee to make up for the embarrassment they’ll suffer looking back at this binfire.

WallaceinAnderland · 19/10/2025 00:11

I read the book and did guess the plot so was surprised to see this made it as far as a screen adaptation. Thought the whole plot was weak as the 'twist' seems obvious from the start so you are always expecting more and it never came.

I loved that hut she stumbled across when she swam off the boat, the fire was already loaded with kindling and she found a lovely woollen jumper to wear 🤣

Haha, yes, I too thought “ well, at least she’s found a smashing jumper” and she didn’t pay hundreds of pounds for it in Toast! What luck the door was open too!
Prior to that, what a good idea it is,if you think someone is out to kill you on a luxury yacht, to go on the rampage telling everyone you meet that this is what is happening 😆

bringbacksideburns · 19/10/2025 00:21

Guessed the plot more or less within the first ten mins. Hilarious.

The sudden self defence that James Bond would envy. The Olympic style swimming and conveniently unlocked hut with toasty stove so she didn’t die of hyperthermia.

They must have been doing a mate a favour or paid a hell of a lot for all those great actors to take part in such drivel!

Theresabatinmykitchen · 19/10/2025 00:33

It was utterly dreadful wasn’t it, the hammy acting from Mike from Neighbours was funny, he can’t do an English accent to save his life! I was expecting it to be really good considering the cast but I’ve seen better Hallmark movies! Considering they were on a super yacht it was so dank and dreary as well, where was the sunshine and glamour?
