Triangle of Sadness. Worst film ever?

I suspect I’ll be in the minority, as it’s quirky (understatement), mildly humorous in part, edgy (wanky), ‘clever’. But my God, it was total nonsense and utterly dragged on. I was torn between wanting to switch off and seeing how it all panned out. More fool me, I opted for the latter 😁
Yaya gave me leg envy though.

I've only caught the second half, with
all the... unpleasantness.
I like odd movies but this didn't hit the mark!

I loved it! Thought it was hilarious!

Summerhillsquare · 21/09/2025 19:11

I was wowed by it. It's one of the most memorable films I've ever seen. Not a fun/relaxing watch tho I grant you.

TiredofLDN · 21/09/2025 19:14

Hated it. I generally love art house / independent / downright weird cinema- to a sort of mockable extent- and thought it was fucking awful.

OrlandointheWilderness · 21/09/2025 19:55

Oh god it was dire. Properly pretentious crap!

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 21/09/2025 19:59

Lost in translation was the worst I had ever seen at cinema, I wanted to end myself 😂

WaterWall22 · 21/09/2025 20:00

It was so long and drawn out. Not sure how I managed to make it to the end..

JMSA · 21/09/2025 20:01

Glad it’s not just me! I have a very strong stomach, so it’s not even like it grossed me out particularly (I was also eating during ‘those’ scenes 😄), but it was honestly one of the worst films I’ve ever watched. It was so bad that I wondered if it might be a spoof of something else.
Normally I like independent, quirky films too. On paper, I thought this would be my cup of tea entirely.
Still, life would be boring if we were all the same!

I've watched it twice, and in between rewatched The Admirable Crichton for a gentler take on a similar situation.

HappyNewTaxYear · 21/09/2025 20:02

Great film! The Woody Harrelson character and the sea-sickness sequence are brilliant!

LlynTegid · 25/09/2025 07:03

I enjoyed it though I know with the sea sickness it would not be for everyone. It is a satire in a way, as with The Square, another Ruben Ostland film.

RollerSkateLikePeggy · 25/09/2025 07:46

I thought it was awful. Turned it off after about 30 minutes!

HeadsWinTailsLose · 25/09/2025 07:50

A bad remake of The Admirable Crighton.

AliceMaforethought · 25/09/2025 07:52

It was dire. I don't like that director at all, all three of his have been dire IMO.

crunchylamp · 25/09/2025 08:00

I thought it was brilliant! So thought provoking and funny in places. I didn't watch the sea sickness bit with sound on - as that was really gross.

Teenageneerdowell · 25/09/2025 08:05

It's certainly a very memorable film, although not really for good reasons. Was really shocked to learn the actress playing Yaya died not long after it was made.

Britpopbaby · 29/11/2025 12:29

I loved it!

CarpeVitam · 29/11/2025 13:03

It was dire!

Baninarama · 07/12/2025 13:10

I'd divide it into three - the first section was okay-ish, the second bit was brilliant (the boat) and I hated the last part and the ending.
