can any one advise how scary / dark the new Snow White film is and if it’s suitable for a 5 year old?

I took my 8 year old last night and was mildly surprised by the PG rating. It's very "bloodless" in the sense that the evil queen just throws people in the dungeons rather than has them executed . Someone gets shot in the shoulder by a cross bow bolt but the operation to remove it happens offscreen. There's a skeleton in the dungeon. Obviously her parents die but this is alluded to rather than being shown (a disappearing reflection in the wishing well, a king riding off to war). The only vaguely frightening sequence (and it would depend on how sensitive your 5 year old is) is the bit where Snow White is fleeing through the forest and the trees seem to come to life and grab her - it's an almost carbon copy of the same sequence in the original animation.

Honestly, the scariest part of the film is Gal Gadot's awful acting and singing. Apart from that it's one of the better Disney live action adaptations I've been forced to sit through 😊

Thank you that’s really helpful!

We took two 5yos yesterday. Neither found it scary.

I think an average 5yo would be fine.
