A Real Pain

I’ve just got back and I loved it. Kieron Culkin is fantastic in it. There were some laughs but a lot of understandable angst. Poland looked magnificent. Jesse Eisenberg is just a young Woody Allen isn’t he? And he’s been in his movies so I expect he’s perfect in his films. He’s a clever guy and I think this film is very personal to him. I enjoyed it a lot.

And the tour guide is the guy from White Lotus.

I loved this film. I’ve known a few people like Benji and although people like them and are drawn to them, they have so many issues to contend with hidden behind the wacky exterior.
The scenes in the concentration camp made me shed a tear , it was so beautifully done.
‘ money is heroin for boring people ‘line was funny and so true.
An intriguing little film and the Benji actor was brilliant. Not seen him in anything before.
Must have been exhausting playing such a full on character.

Benji - Kieran Culkin is the brother of Macaulay Culkin and featured in some of the Home Alone films with him but is best known for his role in the tv show succession where he won an Emmy. He once dated Emma Stone who a producer of Real Pain. His wife is British and they have 2 children. His role in Succession is quite like the role in Real Pain, he must be quite intense in real life as he improvised a lot of the best lines / scenes in A Real Pain. He deserved his Oscar for the role, I loved the film.

He was the son in Father of the Bride 1 and 2.

Just saw this, such a good film, on Disney plus
i didnt feel it was very woody Allen,
it did feel kind of old
but a very good watch
