Are there any good children's films due out over the next couple of months?

Don't know if it's out in the UK yet, but dd (7) and her pal recently loved 'Nim's Island' about a young girl (maybe 10?) and her marine biologist dad who live alone on an isolated tropical island. The dad is caught in a bad storm while on an overnight scientific trip (and presumed lost at sea), and we see how the young girl manages on her own, with the help of her animal friends, and with an arrival of help ... until her Dad returns. There's a book about it too.

Pixar (Finding Nemo, Toy Story etc) have a new film coming out this summer about a robot called 'Wall-E' (not sure I've spelled that correctly). All the other robots are broken except Wally (don't remember the specifics of how that came to be) - who looks a bit like a mechanical ET.

That's all I know about...

Nimms Island looks fab and out now too.

Wall-E looks good too. If you remember Short Circuit, he is the spitting image of No 5 so have high hopes for this one just for nostalgias sake

I'm going to take DD (4) to see Nims Island with her brothers, she really liked the trailer we saw when we watched Spiderwick Chronicles this week (don't recommend that for a 4 YO, DD was a bit scared - not enough to want to leave, but enough that I had to hold my hands over her ears, she likes to see but not hear when she's nervous)

Horton Hears a Who? is still out...

Can't find anything else really, I was looking for another animated one called Monsters vs Aliens (Monster Inc type Monsters, not scary ones) but apparently that's out Summer 2009, oops

Hmm - 6 year old would like, but not sure about a 4 year old. The story is perhaps a bit too sophisticated.

Mr Magorium's Emporium

We're going to see Nim's Island for ds2's birthday on Saturday (8 - crikey where have the years gone?)

I don't think it will be one for you though.

Generally I would look for a U film for a 4-yr-old, and I don't know of any coming out. they tend to release a couple at the start of the summer holidays.

Enchanted is LOVELY. Might be too old for them but it's great fun.
