Anyone been to an advance screening?

I've just got tickets through O2 priority to see Sonic the Hedgehog 3 a week early, DS is very excited. Not been to an advance screening before. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what to expect? It says to get there early to guarantee seats, the earlier you get there, the better the seats. Does anyone know how early is best? It's a 10am screening in December, more than happy to leave early but don't want to go at silly o'clock just to freeze for no reason 😅

Yes, often, but a lot will depend on the organisation/venue or whatever got you them, and their specific rules and arrangements. You need to ask specifically whether people have been to advance screen at the O2. My experiences at film festivals etc won’t be much use.

I imagine from what you say that they will have issued more tickets than there are seats, and it’s free seating.

Ah thank you!

I got the tickets from O2 Priority to see it at a Cineworld cinema.

It said they do issue more tickets than seats and I'm more than happy to get there early. Just don't know how early to be.

I've been to a couple, does it not say doors open at... and screening is at...? Usually doors open 30-45 minutes before and there will be no adverts and probably no trailers. I would suggest at least 45 minutes before. When we went to a sky cinema one there were only single seats left 15 minutes before it started and staff were asking people to move up to fill any gaps.

This is so helpful, thank you!

It says doors open at 10am for 10.30 start, but then it said arrive early. I was thinking leave at 8, its 45 mins away. So hopefully that will be about right, if we're too early then I can grab a coffee.

I've been to loads, including some that are so early I've had to sign an NDA.

We usually get there 30 mins before doors open.

Wow, I've never heard of one that early.
