Saw it at the cinema and definitely worth a watch if you want a feel good film

I watched this today on Netflix. I was looking forward to it as people have said how funny it is but I was disappointed. There were a few humorous bits but it seemed the main joke was foul language and I found the storylines with her parents quite sad.

Willmafrockfit · 27/07/2024 04:39

oh great, like to see this

Superhansrantowindsor · 27/07/2024 16:56

Just watched it. I was so looking forward to it and was bitterly disappointed. I didn’t laugh once and the historical inaccuracies bothered me. Such a waste of an amazing cast.

I've just seen it again , fantastic cast but unfunny script . The language is very off putting .

I thought it was great. Obviously the language was a bit much, but for the period it was set in.

Samcro · 29/07/2024 09:44

really enjoyed it.

Tel12 · 29/07/2024 09:48

I enjoyed the film but ordinary people didn't swear like that back in the day.

I saw this in cinema and felt like such a prude 🤣 it was terribly unfunny and the language for the sake of language had me cringing.

I saw it at our local (small) theatre. I didn't laugh at all, found it rather daft and wondered what possessed Olivia Coleman and Timothy Spall to star in it. The language didn't bother me at all, but that seemed to be the only thing some of the audience found funny

Polarnight · 29/07/2024 20:39

I thought it was absolute rubbish.

thatone · 29/07/2024 20:44

I thought it was watchable and I wanted to see how it would end but something felt wrong about how the characters reacted.

Deadringer · 29/07/2024 20:45

I really enjoyed it.

Isn't that sort of the point though? The letters are extraordinary because of the language? We saw it at the cinema and enjoyed it.

Loved it, laughed out loud at some points. Excellent cast. Loved the filming, around Arundel and the coast where I live. I remember it being filmed.

LightFull · 31/07/2024 19:31

I got bored not long into it so stopped watching

Same here, I thought it was terrible.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 31/07/2024 19:40

I thought it was rubbish.
However, i did rather enjoy Mrs Harris goes to Paris on netflix.

YabaJaba · 31/07/2024 19:44

Tourette's

Pashazade · 31/07/2024 19:46

It would seem that the language is largely accurate, certainly it seems to be a fair dramatisation. I enjoyed it overall, particularly the peripheral characters.

I really liked it , it was much more than a comedy .
I loved the acting ,well cast and quirky, the only weak point for me was the younger male police officer who can't act in my opinion !
I want to watch it again.

usernother · 06/08/2024 11:19

I normally hate lots of swearing in anything, but this was really funny. I loved it.

OneToThree · 06/08/2024 13:20

Loved it!

Willmafrockfit · 15/08/2024 04:38

i really enjoyed this.
lots of recognisable faces.
all excellent
great ending

westisbest1982 · 18/09/2024 21:54

I C thought it was very average. Unfunny and predictable. I know there’s a 17 year age gap between Olivia Colman and Timothy Spall, but he looks only a bit older than her so I couldn’t engage in that father and daughter story.

ThePoshUns · 18/09/2024 22:03

I watched it on the plane last week. It was ducking dreadful.
