Anyone super excited. It’s been a dreadful year for films. So tickets booked for next Friday (date with myself) I can’t wait.
Yes my bar is pretty low. But I think it will be great fun.

Yes! I'm so excited! It's my birthday next Thursday so I'm going as a birthday treat with my mum and dd1 and dd2. Can't wait.

circular2478 · 19/07/2024 20:05

The sound track to the movie sounds epic.

8misskitty8 · 24/07/2024 20:39

Family trip tonight at midnight to see it !
Although Youngest Dd has been pissed all year that it’s R rated in the US so usually then rated an 18 here in the uk so not old enough to go.
But DH realised today that it has actually been rated a 15 here !
So we can all go.

Sandwichgen · 24/07/2024 21:00

Audiences love it, critics hate it. That generally means I;ll have a great time

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/07/2024 21:02

We’re going this weekend! Do we need to watch the wolverine films first?

Daisypod · 26/07/2024 11:19

Omg we went last night and loved it! Am I allowed to do spoilers here because I really need to share with others who have seen it!

if You haven’t seen the x-men, wolverine and MCU films & tv especially Loki, you might struggle to say the least.

8misskitty8 · 26/07/2024 17:03

We loved it.
The title sequence on its own was amazing.
Easily one of the best marvel films.

Hatey · 26/07/2024 18:12

Just back. It was brilliant. All the actors played brilliantly. Lol
End credit worth the wait. How young did Hugh look!
And the dog, just too cute. And nice Deadpool, the hair, just the hair.
So many nods to the fans, in jokes.

Agree especially Loki.

Just got back from watching it.

I loved it!

Ihatemondays1962 · 27/07/2024 19:44

I loved it too, it was very funny. We watched it in 4dx which made it even more enjoyable.

SausageRoll2020 · 27/07/2024 19:45

Trying to decide whether or not to go and see this tomorrow.
I enjoy nearly all the marvel films, liked all the wolverine ones but just can't get into the Deadpool ones and haven't made it to the end of either of them.
Does anyone who has seen it, think this one is balanced enough for someone who doesn't normally like Deadpool to enjoy?

I'd third this. You might still enjoy it but there will be so much you don't get if you're not familiar with the MCU.

Another who saw it today and it was phenomenal! I got goosebumps, I laughed ( a lot) and obviously I stayed for the post credits scene...along with all but 3 people in the cinema. 😆

Eskarin · 27/07/2024 20:48

I've only read positive reviews so far but I thought it was awful! I loved the first two but thought this one was all over the place. I wonder if it's because I'm not familiar with wolverine / x-men.

itainthalfhot · 27/07/2024 20:58

saw it last night.. i am not a super fan but hubby is so he spent a lot of time leaning over and explaining bits too me.

i still loved it.. made me laugh. i have heard that its got bad reviews, but i think if you are a marvel fan you will get it!

who doesnt stay for the final scene on a marvel film?

It took me by surprise too that people didn't know to wait but obviously those 3 didn't get the memo. It did spark an interesting conversation between me and DH though as to how much of the film they didn't understand if they weren't familiar with something so well known as the after the credits scene.

Hatey · 27/07/2024 22:22

I had to google who played Gambit!
But as allowing spoilers Chris Evan’s was brilliant and his speech ( how he remembered his lines so well).

OP posts:
PragmaticDramatic · 28/07/2024 15:52

It was fun however I wished they had stayed a little bit away from the whole of the Marvel universe.

TheABC · 28/07/2024 16:02

Brilliant, especially the void within its abandoned tech references to other Sci fi and superhero movies.

Also, the unabashed cheesy music and in-jokes. Hugh Jackson channeling "pissed off dad on a road trip with annoying teen." The old comic book characters from the past 20 years. Oh, and the nod to the spider verse at the end with the multiple deadpools scene.

My only grumble was trying to understand all of Deadpool's quick-fire speeches when you can't see
his face - I'm going to buy it again on general release, so I can watch with captions. I appreciate that's a niche grumble, though.

It's a love letter of a film to comic book movies. There's bugger-all plot, but I didn’t go into the cinema expecting a life changing story. I went in to be entertained by Marvel Jesus and a grumpy alcoholic mutant werewolf.

Procrastinates · 28/07/2024 16:24

It's a love letter of a film to comic book movies.

This sums it up perfectly. You can tell it was produced by comic book lovers who value the original material and it's all the better because of it!

BobVanceVanceRefridgeration · 30/07/2024 17:43

I've just seen it and loved it! I'm a huge fan of comic book movies so this really hit the mark!

Massive spoilers below

Henry Cavill as Wolverine was amazing. He's been rumoured for so long to take the role over and the nod to how DC messed him over was just (chefs kiss)

And Channjng Tatum got a big whoop from me too. There was a Gambit movie in pre production i believe with him in the role but it never happened so this was just great to see

So many great cameos kept under wraps

And I adored the lead up to introducing Chris Evan's and all the expectation that it would be CA.

I'm left with lots of questions and feel now a bit excited about what's to come, especially with RDJ taking over as the new villain in the next avengers film after the incident with Jonathan majors

What was the clip of Thor and Deadpool? Surely this implies a future team up?

What about the rest of the forgotten heroes that were promised a 'proper' ending by the TVA? Will they now be part of future Avengers films?

And is this the last we see of HJ as Wolverine?

ThelastRolo20 · 30/07/2024 18:20

I loved it! The Chris Evans cameo and twist made me laugh out loud - hilarious!

Loved the cameos and was just generally really fun 🙂

TheABC · 31/07/2024 22:48

It's broken box-office records for an R-rated film (15 in the UK). A good omen.
