Oof.
What are Netflix doing atm?
Not sure why this was commissioned.
I mean, I know it's meant to be a nostalgia trip - the original is forty years old.
But there must be some better scripts/new films to be found out there.
You know, like any on here.

Eddie Murphy did Dolemite in 2019 and then does this shite (and Candy Cane Lane and Coming 2 America). I know he has ten children but wtf Confused

Well, we enjoyed it. It wasn't about the script, it was about the fun and nostalgia,
which was great.

@FailBetter

watched it enjoyed it

The original is such a classic - that first scene in the lorry ! Amazing! I was looking forward to this but sounds like a dud.

KnottyKnitting · 07/07/2024 00:03

I watched it yesterday and thought it was absolutely abysmal !

tallcurvey · 07/07/2024 19:00

@FailBetter

actually I loved it

LuckysDadsHat · 07/07/2024 19:08

We loved it! Not a patch on 1 and 2 (we like to forget 3 was ever made) but still a good film with nostalgia from the originals. They even got a dig in about how shite 3 was.

All I can say to the haters is "get the fuck outta here".

Olika · 07/07/2024 19:08

I just watched it and I enjoyed it.

FailBetter · 07/07/2024 21:44

Only me and knotty then! <links arms>Grin
It was not as bad as BHC3 no, that one was bleached in my memory, along with Police Academy and Croc Dundee sequels.
I'm glad the four of you got something out of it. And Kevin Bacon, Judge Reinhold and John Ashton got a pay cheque. Joseph Gordon-Levitt I do like but the script was just meh. And I watched A family affair! Wink

Absolutely loved the trip down memory lane. It can't be watched as a movie on its own.

FailBetter · 07/07/2024 21:53

I'm old enough to have been present for the first one as a teen. It just felt very much "by numbers" as opposed to say, Maverick, which paid homage beautifully. The plot, the baddies, the script for this was very generic borderline non-existent/not credible (Jeffrey would believe Rolex Bacon over Billy?). I'll forgive Paul Reiser though, he elevates anything he's in.

Have just watched and actually really enjoyed it. But agree, it’s all about the nostalgia
