Inglorious Basterds

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 01/05/2024 22:50

And Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.

Donald Sutherland version.

LauderSyme · 01/05/2024 22:51

Cinema Paradiso.

I hate the ending of Thelma and Louise. Everyone went on about what a great feminist film it was and I was like, what?! Women transgress so they have to end up dead? How is that empowering?

Fuelledbylatte · 01/05/2024 22:55

Dirty Dancing!

cassiatwenty · 01/05/2024 22:55

Hey @SOxon I just finished watching Billy Eliott and Jason Statham getting with Melissa McCarthy was so cool.

My fav ending is the end of "Faubourg Saint-Denis" with Natalie Portman if you haven't seen it, I won't spoil it.

MarjorieStuartBaxter · 01/05/2024 22:56

Probably very understated but "prisoners" 2013
The whistle......very eerie

notacooldad · 01/05/2024 22:59

Nebraska.
I loved the ending of this film.

SOxon · 01/05/2024 23:05

@cassiatwenty hello, thanks, I will check it out now!

My son was asking me earlier what my favourite, darkest film endings have been. And I went with old boy and the mist.

OneHeartySnail · 01/05/2024 23:32

Kind Hearts and Coronets.

UK version. Apparently the US censors insisted on a final scene showing the memoirs being given to the prison governor for reasons of morality. Which would ruin it for me. I love the ambiguity! Because I can't decide either...!

Wow! I didn't know that about the US version. Ridiculous. The ending of the Hitchcock film Suspicion is also quite wrong for similar reasons.

Can't believe I forgot Kind Hearts and Coronets, one of my favourite films!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/05/2024 06:59

The ending of Withnail and I is very good.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 02/05/2024 07:32

Silence of the lambs

pooptastic · 02/05/2024 07:42

Saw, not a great film but an amazing ending. Also Switchblade Romance (aka High Tension).

upinaballoon · 02/05/2024 17:13

Can't say a best but I loved that dance on the platform at the end of 'Slumdog Millionaire' and the end of 'The Ladykillers' when the old lady isn't believed by the police.

Ah, glad to see some Paddington 2 love! I'm not a crier really, but this one does get me to me every time - usually Aunt Lucy, but sometimes Hugh Grant's dancing! 😂 Paddington 1 is great too.

Oooh, Officer and a Gentleman, I feel a rewatch coming on...

I should mention my namesake! Lock Stock has a pretty good ending!
