I though it was terrific and fun! Guadagnino's direction was masterful and there are so many directorial but also technical details to enjoy: tension between characters, amazing execution and timing of time lapses, shots (especially from below during tennis matches), editing during the match, sound and music. The leads were great too, Josh O'Connor being the stand out.

Loved it. The three leads were great, but it's a different film to the one I expected from the trailer

I thought it was great fun. Good acting all round and the pace was great.

I'm also a prude and didn't need to see so many dicks and bums.

MinnieTruck · 27/04/2024 20:44

I watched it today after work and thought it was okay. Nothing special, just okay. It was way too sexual for me though, I found a lot of it unnecessary

Missfelinemoo · 27/04/2024 21:26

I enjoyed parts of it but other parts felt disjointed. I wasn't sure what the point it was trying to make was. Some of the music didn't fit. But I had fun and the tennis matches felt very realistic and you could see the passion put into making the film.

It's funny you mentioned nudity etc. I was expecting much more because the film was marketed as very raunchy. It was still very sexy but there was not actual love scene in it.

OP, so glad it was good. Keen to see it but was wondering what people thought of it first. Zendaya is a very talented actress.

Workingmytickettoparadise · 28/04/2024 15:31

I thought it was axing and the soundtrack was amazing too. Watching it the music sounded like it came from the same people who soundtracked The Social Network and I watched the credits to se that it was. It was great to see three dimensional characters too particularly Zendaya’s character.

I thought it was just meh. Passed a few hours and was entertaining enough but wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to others. I saw it using my unlimited card and would have been disappointed to pay as didn’t get much more from it than what’s in the trailer

One thing that bugged me is it’s supposed to span 13 years and while they did a decent job of having the guys looking the appropriate ages at the right times, Zendaya just looked the same age all of the time. Did not look like a woman supposedly in her early 30s by the end

SpaSpa · 28/04/2024 22:21

Loved, loved, loved it.
9.5/10

But Zendaya is 27 not 15 - she will looks exactly like her character when she's in her early 30s.

I really liked it, the score in particular, but not so much the ending.

I think if you saw Zendaya in anything at the start of her film career (Spiderman/Greatest Showman) when she was 19/20, you can see that now her build and face haven't changed at all. I think she'll look 18 til she's 40.

rookiemere · 02/05/2024 21:45

I saw this last night, as someone in their 50s I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would apart from an unsatisfactory ending.
Josh O'Connor - wow I knew he was a great actor, but I did not see him as a leading man, but here he is just magnificent.
I did like the way their rooms when young were authentically mismatched and fairly grotty.

ICantThinkofAnythingClever · 17/05/2024 21:41

Just saw this and loved it, I thought it was a very sexy summery movie without being overboard raunchy or vulgar. I may have developed a thing for Josh O'Connor now, which I never thought I'd say about an actor I previously associated with Prince Charles on the Crown.

I really, really wanted Patrick to win the game, I'm a sucker for old underdogs in sport making a comeback. Well, it's still possible he did. I hope he did! It would make sense as a story structure with the other game when they were kids, which Patrick also promised to throw and then didn't. It's part of their (now recovered?) friendship for Art to never beat him.

Zendaya was a bit miscast, I think. Not only is she younger than the men but she also looks younger than her actual age. However she did give a very good performance.

autienotnaughty · 14/10/2024 08:49

Just watched this. I thought they were all excellent actors.

I thought the match dragged on too long although the non linear timeline worked well. I agree some of the sexy scenes were gratuitous. Zendaya does not look old enough to parent.

I wanted more resolution at the end. Did they both dump her narcissistic ass? Had she planned this all along?

colouringindoors · 16/10/2024 22:08

Also wanted more resolution! A striking film but for me Tashi and Patrick were too unlikeable...

Caremwluz · 22/12/2025 19:24

On BBC1 tonight.

Shineyshush · 05/01/2026 19:02

Never watched this, and I never will. But I've seen the clip where the two men kiss Zendaya. Every time, it makes me feel like I'm going to melt into a little puddle.
