Looking for film ideas for a Sunday afternoon interests are wide but just can’t find either a feel good or gripping film on any platform!

a lot of films on Netflix, Apple etc are too formulaic and just wind me up with their predictable ending - Looking for gems ! Love a quirky British

bank of Dave
swimming with men
good luck to you Leo grande
swimmers
the talented mr ripley
exotic marigold hotel
green book
A good year

any ideas - got sky, apple and Netflix to choose from

🙏

Nyad is great with Jodie Foster & Annette Benning.

Captain Fantatic with Viggo Mortenson - uplifting but not hokey. And not a superhero film.

A couple of quirky but rather kinky films, so don't settle down to watch them with the kids!

Preaching to the Perverted
9 Dead Gay Guys

The Station Agent - isolated man inherits disused station, acquires friends despite himself. Quirky, lovely, mild grit. Peter Dinklage, Michelle Williams.

What! It's a great film... I've had to watch it a few times to really get it...but it's such a sweet film...the relationship between father and son is special...
And the quirky sister..
And of course it's set in Cornwall where I live so what's not to love!
(I do understand really..there's some films/books that everyone raves about but leave me cold) x

Dh really loves it and it's one of his go to films I'm not really keen on Domnal Gleeson as an actor maybe that's why I don't like it.

Pride. Very pertinent too at the moment with the memories of the miners' strike being in the news. Fabulous film.

A non-American happy ending?

Report
Custardcreamsandbourbons · 10/03/2024 10:20

@MsAmerica as I’m not the stereo typical American feel good film with a happy ending sweet home Alabama etc ..
