Actors in films that you wouldn’t expect them to be in?

I watched Layer Cake the other week and Sally Hawkins is on as one of the main characters. It took me by surprise a little and I have seen the film more than once!

It’s not yet released, but Cillian Murphy as a middle-aged coal delivery man and father of five in smalltown Ireland in 1985. (Small Things Like These).

Rob Lowe in Behind The Candelabra, but my god he was magnificent.

Michael Douglas as Liberace himself. A great performance.

Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast, not particularly any surprise that he can play various roles, but for the man who played Ghandi using the language in Sexy Beast

Not an English language film, but Daniel Olbrychski in 'Idealny facet dla mojej dziewczyny' (The ideal man for my girlfriend). He has a long filmography, but he was prominently in a number of adaptations of classic novels. There's truly a lot going on in the 'Ideal man...' film, but it's about as trashy as the name suggests.

Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke were in the excellent "Maudie" (Netflix) a Canadian film which I wasn't expecting, somehow
