Based on my other poll regarding Christmas movies, I noticed several people mentioning that Die Hard is "NOT" a Christmas movie, but is it? 🤣

Yes. Absolutely.

hodgeheggy · 14/11/2023 10:35

Yes.

DogLegMotor · 14/11/2023 10:37

It is a Christmas party at Nakatomi plaza on Christmas eve so yes it is a Christmas movie. We watch it every year at, you guessed it, Christmas Grin

SheilaFentiman · 14/11/2023 10:38

Yes

leafinthewind · 14/11/2023 10:39

Yes. Clearly. It's at Christmas time, it's about a family reuniting, the hero's story arc is redemptive... Isn't that enough?!

User478 · 14/11/2023 10:43

Yep, and Jurassic World is too.

Scruffington · 14/11/2023 10:43

I get unreasonably irritated by the ‘Die Hard is/isn't a Xmas film’ debate.

user1483387154 · 14/11/2023 10:47

definitely yes

WandaWonder · 14/11/2023 10:49

Yes because I was told by someone connected to the movie it was meant as a Christmas movie

buttercupcake · 14/11/2023 10:49

Yes. And so is Jurassic World.

evilharpy · 14/11/2023 10:55

Of course it is. If it wasn't Christmas there would have been no Christmas party in Nakatomi Plaza, John McClane wouldn't have been there, and none of it would have happened. Plus everything @leafinthewindsaid.

In fact it's THE Christmas movie. It's got everything that makes a great Christmas movie great.

I look forward to getting out my Nakatomi advent calendar again this year.

MrsSkylerWhite · 14/11/2023 10:57

Obviously. Though any excuse to watch Alan Rickman ….

TomatoSandwiches · 14/11/2023 11:01

What a ridiculous question!

Of course it is, no ifs ands or buts about it.

Newgolddream70 · 14/11/2023 11:02

Yes and my favourite!!

I would argue that Die Hard is a film set at Christmas (but isn't a Christmas film), whereas Die Hard 2 is a Christmas film. DH disagrees - it's a discussion we have had every December for nearly 2 decades

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 14/11/2023 11:16

Yippie Kai Yes it is

BiddyPop · 14/11/2023 11:35

Which one is 2 - the snow covered church with the bad guys and John's wife coming in on the same plane as the reporter with a non-mol against her?

I'd argue both 1& 2 are Christmas movies, whereas the later ones are plain ole action movies.

2 is the airport - it includes snow, Christmas music and a feel good ending

BiddyPop · 14/11/2023 13:13

@123ZYX that's the one!

elQuintoConyo · 14/11/2023 13:30

Yes, it is. Even the director Jon McTiernan came out and admitted it a few years ago.
