Just finished "Me Before You"

Managed to calm it to a sob now.

I watched that on a plane many years ago. I was all snorty snotty sobbing. I cry at most things though, I weep at adverts, people being kind and group singing, anything, so I'm just a massive sad sack. But I will never watch The Green Mile or Who Will Love my Children? again because they break me. Or Molly (b&w film) but no one's ever heard of that so probably doesn't count.

I also watched my most sobful film ever on a plane years ago. Hadn't read anything about it. I just didn't fancy any of the others. It was The Notebook. I want sitting next to my friends and so just sobbed on my own for ages. The guy next to me must have thought I was a a nutter. I couldn't stop!

socialdilemmawhattodo · 03/09/2023 23:34

AI - the final 20-30 minutes always has me sobbing. I just find it so emotional when the little robot child finally gets time with his mum.

TomatoSandwiches · 03/09/2023 23:36

Interstellar, proper snotty sobs.

Awrite · 03/09/2023 23:36

Shadowlands. And it wasn't the end, it was the entire second half of the film.

TomatoSandwiches · 03/09/2023 23:39

I loved you so long also had me quite inconsolable.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/09/2023 23:40

I wasn't alone but Lion is a real tearjerker

KomodoDodo · 03/09/2023 23:42

I am Sam. When his daughter gets taken away. My kids were both small and I just completely imagined/ felt the utter pain and helplessness that having your children removed from you would cause. I cried for hours.

pinkyredrose · 03/09/2023 23:42

Big Fish.

Housenoob · 03/09/2023 23:42

A Monster Calls

honeyrain · 03/09/2023 23:45

Me before you is a horrible film!! I was angry when I watched it more than anything!

A star is born had me bawling in the cinema..wish I'd have been alone!

OCaroLiner · 03/09/2023 23:53

Joy.

I was so glad I watched it on a plane flying home from a work trip as I cried like a baby at certain parts of it.

LittleBearPad · 03/09/2023 23:55

I watched Marley & Me on a plane - sobbed.

I did read something once upon a time about planes making people cry more at films. But it may have been rubbish

LilyLemonade · 03/09/2023 23:56

Truly Madly Deeply - and yes Shadowlands was another mega sobfest.

ChaChaRealSmooth · 03/09/2023 23:57

I wish I’d watched the fault in our stars alone, not in a cinema!

I looked like a kiss tribute act by the finish with my eyeliner everywhere

TicketyBoo11 · 03/09/2023 23:58

The Bridges of Madison County..the end where she nearly gets out of the truck 😭

The Hours - all of it..stunning film.

CluelessHamster · 04/09/2023 00:02

Bridge to Terabithia 😭

Emmaemmeline · 04/09/2023 00:07

I agree with A star is born ( even though I’d seen the Barbra Streisand version I wept watching Lady Gaga )
Also , West side story , went to see the remake , luckily friend and I the only 2 in the cinema ( thanks Covid )
Spielberg changed the order of the songs , but not the ending !

justcantgetenough · 04/09/2023 00:21

A gift from Bob, the sequel about Street cat Bob. Terrible film but Bob had died in real life a few months before and it was his picture obituary at end off film that set me off!

So not really what your asking as it wasn't the film that set me off crying but I sobbed for ages! RIP Bob

whirlyhead · 04/09/2023 00:25

I refuse to watch any film where an animal dies as I know I will end up in buckets of tears (I’m still traumatised by the dog in the fly 2)

I took a box of tissues to see shadowlands and ended up passing it down the entire cinema row as everyone was crying!

BeaLola · 04/09/2023 00:34

Definitely Shadowlands, Lion, Cinema Paradiso, just blubbed during A Man Called Otto,

SandraButtock · 05/09/2023 18:20

The Quiet Girl
Brokeback Mountain

Spudlover · 05/09/2023 18:24

Another vote for Lion. I nearly watched that on a flight and was really glad I didn’t.

The curious case of Benjamin Button too.

Probably the worst one I saw was an indie teen film called Me, Earl and the Dying Girl. The clue was in the title but honestly, it was brutal.

SocksAndTheCity · 10/09/2023 11:37

Past Lives. Saw it yesterday, plan to see it again and I'd recommend it to anybody but I was a wobbly mess at the end.

Other than that the record is held by an animated film called It's Such A Beautiful Day, which I've tried to watch three times and I still don't think I've seen it all the way through without missing great chunks of it.
