My 5 year old watched Matilda last night and absolutely loved it (finally!!)
What are your recommendations for other films he might enjoy?
His favourites are the old Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Home Alone and now Matilda....

Dunston Checks In
Home Alone 2 (3 and 4 aren’t great)

Studio Ghibli.

Start with the younger ones like Totoro and Ponyo. Go from there.

Other old goodies my 5 year old loves - Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Babe.

Enjoyed the first Harry Potter, was fixated on Totoro.

Then there’s all the obvious Disney Pixar’s, Despicable Me etc. We particularly love Encanto, Tangled, Coco.

The Polar Express, the 2004 animated Christmas film directed by Robert Zemeckis.

The recent film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was really good.

"Meet the Robinsons" is a wonderful film.

Shaun the Sheep and other Ardman films are really good at that age. We also enjoyed Zootopia.
We watched the new Puss in Boots and now my LO keeps saying the word ‘crap’ and making beeping noises in public, be warned.

Paddington?

Also second Studio Ghibli films, I'd start with My Neighbour Totoro, Ponyo or Kiki's Delivery Service.

My 8 year old has had stints of being obsessed with all the ones you have mentioned.

I would also recommend Paddington 1 and 2, Chip and Dale one (recent one), The Little Rascals (90s one), Stuart Little, Annie (the original), Luca

Peter Rabbit, Charlottes Web, How to train your Dragon.

Bee Movie, Despicable Me/Minions films. Still make me laugh. All the Disney animations. Mulan is my favourite.

I would be wary of puss in boots. It’s quite scary and my 5 year old really didn’t like it.

My DS (4 nearly 5) loves We Can Be Heroes (Netflix), The Mitchell's vs the Machines, Mr Popper's Penguins, Back to the Outback, Hotel Transylvania, Minions, The Croods.
