Which is the better film? The Godfather or Goodfellas?

I'm having a lighthearted debate with a friend over these two movies.

If you like either of these movies, which do you prefer?

I enjoy both but I'm definitely Team Godfather.

I know this is the "Films" section, but I LOVED The Godfather books, but didn't enjoy the films. I even gave my daughter "Apollonia" as a middle name.

I saw it donkeys years ago, Mario Puzo recut it and it was shown on TV in 3 or 4 episodes. I loved it and I would love a copy on DVD but I've never found one.

If anyone has paramount plus or can get a free trial the offer is a series about the making of the godfather and it's really good

Also partial to casino which I'd probably watch over both (but then I like godfather 3)
