I'm home alone tonight (happily), just nipping out to buy something nice for dinner, then having a lovely bath and settling down to watch a film.

What are your NYE recommendations? I'm looking for feel good films, after watching a quite depressing one last NYE (by mistake)......

Ah, sounds lovely. What sort of thing are you after? Must it be NYE themed?

I always enjoy Amelie, such a feel good film. Also have a soft spot for Stranger Than Fiction and Kate & Leopold.

These are all delightfully fluffy, no danger of Sad Feelings with any of those!

MalteserGeezee · 31/12/2022 16:54

Also enjoyed The Blind Side and Hidden Figures. Maverick was oddly watchable if you want a bit more action. I've not been to the cinema in years, so sadly my film choice slightly reflects that!

RedRiverShore2 · 31/12/2022 16:59

What streaming channels have you got so we can point you to the right choices, Maverick is on Paramount, CODA is on Apple+ and I spotted that the latest Downton film is on Sky or Now tv tomorrow, can't wait for that.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 31/12/2022 17:01

Hidden figures and green book

LookItsMeAgain · 31/12/2022 17:03

We're planning on watching "The Swimmers" on Netflix later on. Might manage to squeeze in Maverick too before switching over to Jules to ring in the new year.

Happy New Year to you all.

RedRiverShore2 · 31/12/2022 17:05

I really liked Maverick, I didn't think I would

mynameiscalypso · 31/12/2022 17:08

We're going to watch Glass Onion on Netflix later

chimichangaz · 31/12/2022 17:36

Ooh @MalteserGeezee I loved hidden figures and the blind side. Have also seen maverick at the cinema (twice) and loved that too!!

I've got Now tv (Sky), Netflix, Prime, Apple TV+ and Disney plus (although not activated that yet).

No, doesn't have to be NYE themed, looking for something uplifting and if it was funny too, bonus!!

If it is available and you are not emetophobic, Triangle of Sadness.

Nonamenoplacetogo · 31/12/2022 18:25

I'm also on my own and planning to watch When Harry met Sally for the millionth time tonight Smile

GrouchyKiwi · 31/12/2022 18:27

Always Be My Maybe, if you have Netflix.

DH and I always watch a terribly schlocky creature feature on NYE. Must find one for tonight. Last year we watched Tremors, which was funny. The year before it was a spider one.

chimichangaz · 31/12/2022 18:44

Thanks all, some great suggestions.

@LlynTegid having googled emetophobic I don't think it's for me....

@Nonamenoplacetogo nothing quite like rewatching an old favourite!! You know what you're getting (I quite like New Year's Eve for that - the film)

@GrouchyKiwi watching a creature feature sounds fun - does Aliens count? One of my favourite all timers.

@mynameiscalypso I might give Glass Onion a whirl over the next couple of days if not tonight.

@LookItsMeAgain The Swimmers might make me feel a bit sad, but it does look excellent.

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy I've seen green book and it's another excellent choice.

@RedRiverShore2 I think CODA might be the one 😊

Just watching Love Actually. Also like the Holiday with Kate Winslet, a Wonderful Life (an old classic) or Definitely Maybe.

RedRiverShore2 · 31/12/2022 18:52

CODA is really good and very feelgood. Happy new year
