Older films in 4K - High quality has ruined the magic 😆

Just watching Edward Scissorhands on Disney+ on our high quality TV and the scars on his face look like school theatre production quality makeup.

It has killed the magic a bit. Anyone else had the same experience of watching their old favourites and realising that super high quality has weakened the "special effects"?

I find that I need to watch older stuff on a smaller screen. For instance the Jennifer Ehle version of Pride and Prejudice was enchanting on my iPad but distractingly bad picture quality on my big screen tv.

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar oh yes the period dramas are lacklustre, especially if a scene is in a house where the rich live.

I rewatched some of buffy recently. You can clearly see the stunt men in blonde wigs - totally ruins it!

@carameansbeloved oh lord that's a scene-killer isn't it?
