Can you think of any (modernish) movies that have a disabled main character?

Trying to find a film to show some pupils that shows a disabled character in a positive way or whose disability doesn't prevent them from doing what they want to do?

Not My Left Foot or Rainman, btw!

There is an Indian film called Black which is based upon the Helen Keller story. I think that this would definately be worth a look.

Yes, but a bare-chested Keanu oils up well in Much Ado, this term's teacher-treat for suffering through the SATs

keep on dancing - james mcavoy is popular because he's in atonement and he plays a wheelchair bound man who escapes a home and lives independently

Fabulous - thanks so much. Knew MN would rally to the cause!

Website Teuch linked to is brilliant as well.

Born on the 4th of July... can't remember details but think more anti war and maybe Tom Cruise as disillusioned Vietnam Vet not great role model but he is in wheelchair....

The remake of Rear Window with Christopher Reeve.

There was a very good TV movie on last year about a love affair between two people who had fairly major disabilities. Will try to find it, but if anyone can remember any more would be helpful...

'Every time you look at me' with Mat Fraser. Unsure of content though - I know it was on after 9pm.

In Four weddings and a Funeral Hugh Grants brother is deaf. There's a funny bit where he's translating for him...depends how old your pupils are as I think it may be slightly rude.
