shoudl i see top gun maverick, i saw top gun in anticipation but did not enjoy that

to be fair the original top gun is very dated

i did just see it,
nearly walked out in boredom but the ending was good so that was ok in the end.
it was better than the first one

I watched it last week and I loved it.
I think it’s much better than the first one- this one actually has a story.
I liked the original one as of course of Tom Cruise and the soundtrack but the 2nd one - Maverick one is better.
Even my DH who disliked always the original one, he actually loved the second one.

I loved it, but then I loved the first one too.

It's the music and the drama and the fast planes so if you didn't like the first one.... well....

Think you've gotta have loved the old one back in the day to really appreciate it

I wasn't mad on the forst one, the second one was very good once it got going as an exciting action movie - see it in imax if you can.

I don't remember much about the first one and action movies really aren't my thing, but it was infectious and I got carried along with it.

I loved the first one (I'm old enough for
it not to have seemed dated then or the gazillion times I've seen it since.
Also thoroughly enjoyed the second.
I am at a loss as to why people think it's just a remake of the first/same storyline?

I can not remember the first one even though I will have seen it but thought the new one was a good watch, entertaining.
DC saw 2nd one and enjoyed it then watched 1st one and thought it was disappointing, probably just dated as it was 30 ? years ago .

I saw the first Top Gun just before Maverick and it was so bad it was funny (worst film dialogue ever!) Maverick - I was thoroughly bored. It was basically the same film and irritated in the same ways - underutilized female characters, a ridiculous amount of ejecting from planes, daft storyline, awful music and he still doesn't wear a jolly helmet on his motor bike! Tom Cruise's leather jacket has aged well though, as has he.
