Just watch "Sister act 2" on BBC and I'd forgotten how FAB it is.

Even ds1+2 watched it all.

I watched Love Actually the other night. Was it on on Christmas Eve, it was so good, I love the bit when Andrew whatshisname does that card thing to Kiera Knightly

chonky · 01/01/2008 20:33

Oh I love Jack & Sarah. Tis bad, but oh so good.

Jack and Sarah is great!

I took the thread title to mean tacky brainless films that no-one admits to loving (but we all do).

As opposed to those arty farty films that people rave about but which are sooooo incredibly dull and pretentious

lapinewyear · 01/01/2008 20:37

Starship Troopers

EmMcK · 01/01/2008 20:38

Oh, Top Gun. Tom Cruise before he became a freak. Great 80s music and scary jeans. Love it, love it, love it.

EachPeachPearMum · 01/01/2008 20:38

legally blonde is an ace film! :P

McDreamy · 01/01/2008 20:39

I'm not a huge Kiera Knightly fan either but I do like Andrew thingy Yes that bit with Emma Thompson is really moving,

poppy34 · 01/01/2008 20:44

keira has a weedy voice and funny teeth/mouth (she looks stunning in some shots and like one of the terence/philip cartoons in south park at other times)

WideWebWitch · 01/01/2008 20:46

I love

True Lies
all the Die Hard films
Con Air
Independence Day

I love a corny American blockbuster, me. Obviously I also love clever arthouse movies, oh yes.

currantbunmum · 01/01/2008 20:51

Waynes World

The Parent Trap (60's one)

National Lampoon

Spiceworld the Movie

Dragnet

Agree with poppy34, Knightly is beond irritating, in all her roles, but especially when she turns up on the doorstep with "pie or munchies" in her weedy voice. {neither- sod off]

peacelily · 01/01/2008 20:51

Splash.

Pretty Woman

Love Love Actually but keira wins mine and my sisters awards for most annoying celebrity of the decade so far.

Alright in Atonement tho cos she didn't actually speak much

Fubsyinapeartree · 01/01/2008 20:57

Bill and Ted
Waynes World
Independence Day
40 yr old Virgin
School of Rock
Something about Mary
That film with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy and the two old guys

JJMumsnet · 01/01/2008 20:58

Oh yes - Joe Vs Volcano is one of my all time favourites.

I love movies with space aliens too:
Independence Day
MIB
Starship Troopers
Transformers (this is a recent addition)

and I can never resist Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Or Time Bandits.

yogimum · 01/01/2008 20:58

Pretty in Pink with Molly Ringwald. I lived in the US at the time and this was one of those popular teenage flicks. (of course I'm now grown up)

lapinewyear · 01/01/2008 20:58

CON AIR! Love it!

LadyTophamHatt · 01/01/2008 20:59

I watched the 40 year old virgin for the first time last night. It was really funny. Just watching Meet the Fockers! Realy bad BFBS tv!!

Girls Aloud are on later!

somersetmum · 01/01/2008 21:01

Pretty Woman

Sidge · 01/01/2008 21:01

Oh I forgot Armageddon!!!

I love that film

And Men in Black.

paddingtonbear1 · 01/01/2008 21:06

I also love Jack and Sarah.
Also, Sabrina with Harrison Ford (in fact I like most of his films)
Green Card (dh hates that one)
Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Bad film, and they changed the ending, but I still kinda liked it.

paddingtonbear1 · 01/01/2008 21:08

I liked the first Sister Act, never seen the second one.
And Top Gun, I liked Tom Cruise then!
