Am pondering taking kids to see a film tomorrow. Wondering whether either of these is good - dd (5) is quite sensitive about the cinema , not good with mild peril.

DH took DD (almost 6) to watch Mr Magorium yesterday and she absolutely loved it. She said it was sad as he died but she understands death I think and it was surpassed by the lima jumping out of the magic book!Perhaps - if she's iffy about the cinema, could you buy a Christmas DVD and all watch instead. You could buy/make popcorn.

Took dd (nearly 4) to see Enchanted today with her two big sisters and dd2's friend. It has Patrick Dempsey (McDreamy) in it....mmm... A couple of bits where she covered her eyes but went better than expected - planned to leave her at home but she was keen to come. Just watch out for the nasty witch bit at the end. I cried (I'm a wuss) and they all lived happily ever after.

Took dd (nearly 4) to Enchanted and she wanted to walk out several times. The wicked witch is a bit too wicked and there is a slightly violent scene with a giant dragon at the end which I had to cover her eyes for. Otherwise, ok and enjoyable enough for little ones.

Just come back from Enchanted. 6yo dd wimpered at the dragon bit at the end, other kids were screaming hysterically. But it is less than 5 minutes of the film.

Probably why it is PG and not U.

Saw Enchanted. Me, DP and dc's(4).

DP and I usually snooze through the tedioum of such films but we were both awake throught out.

One of dd's was scared for about 2 mins when there's a ferocious dragon (she sat on dp's lap and hid her face but was peeking all the while as she really wanted to see what was happening).

It's lovely.

DP even said after 'I think we'll have to get that on DVD for them' never heard to utter anything like that before.

Though to be fair, that could be cos he wants to watch it again.
