Just left - have to say I didn’t like it at all.

Dh and ds saw it today. They enjoyed it, but I could tell from their reaction it wasn’t a ‘wow’ film.

MasterOfOne · 30/12/2021 20:43

I really liked it. Not what I was expecting but thought it was mostly a good action packed film.

PeaceONoeuf · 30/12/2021 20:45

Yay people to talk to! I feel like all three had different genres going on so I was a bit nonplussed by this one

Agreed very different from the first two! A lot less humour, but some of the scenes and fight choreography was some of the best I've ever seen

Feelingoood · 31/12/2021 09:14

Ooh can’t wait to go! Love the other films and this is in the past too..great!

PeaceONoeuf · 31/12/2021 09:30

I loved the first one, hated the second one as it tipped too far into farce / cartoon baddie - this one is nothing like the second. It’s like a completely different film.

Exactly this. Watched it with my 21 year old and he also said it wasn't what he expected but enjoyed it more than the other two. Definitely had a few OMG moments and shades of 1917.

Oddly professional critics don't seem to like it but the general public do form the reviews I've seen.

PeaceONoeuf · 31/12/2021 17:18

Ds watched it last night, he was a bit meh about it - thought it was ok, good in places. I think dh would really like it.

Absolutely loved it!! Loved the look of it, the action, the cast. I do have a soft spot for Ralph Fiennes though and loved him in this. Hope they make another one! So much fun!!

Danikm151 · 02/01/2022 22:34

I loved it. I loved the history it in, the nods to the original films. The humour was dryer… felt a better lad could have played Conrad but some of the fight scenes were brilliant!

PeaceONoeuf · 02/01/2022 22:40

Interesting , think someone was right about critics not liking it and public loving it. Without the kingsman link I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Thought it was slow to be honest. And weird. Just bloody weird at times Improved after someone died. No spoilers Don’t worry. Was just a bit boring until then. Apart from the Russian guy. Haha. What a loon! Feel mean saying it improved when the person died. But honestly, it was none stop brilliant from then. Flitting from boredom
To mania in Russia. Haha. I love Ralph too.

CormoranStrike · 03/01/2022 17:20

I really liked it.

I was genuinely shocked when a sudden death happened (deliberately oblique reference); I found the final half hour atop the rock quite slow.

TueWed · 03/01/2022 17:22

I loved it

Sure a fair bit was predictable, death was shocking

Agree with all of this.

Surprised it wasn’t funnier but I thought it was a great storyline.

I must admit I didn’t exactly get the motivation of the baddie. What’s the point of sending everyone to war so that you can sit on top of a Rock?

mafted · 03/01/2022 17:34

I was pleasantly surprised. Quite enjoyed the first, wasn't keen on the second but this one was pretty good. I guessed the 'baddie' though and wasn't surprised at all by the death whereas DH was shocked by both.

MasterOfOne · 03/01/2022 20:43

I was def shocked but the death but agree the last 30 mins on the rock was a little hmmmm aside from the fight scenes (which was just epic)

Still a good watch though, and wished the Russian had a much bigger screen presence.

MsAmerica · 01/02/2022 01:08

I was horrified at how mediocre it was. My own fault, though. I avoid knowing too much about movies beforehand, and mostly went on the basis of its being a period movie and starring Fiennes.

And beyond its mediocrity, there is something disquieting about twisting history in ways that won't be perceived by unknowing younger viewers.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 03/02/2022 21:30

I liked it! Loved the first one, thought the second was terrible and a real disappointment. I thought this was good, although I knew nothing of the storyline and thought it was going to be Harry Hart’s story.
