Single All the Way - my favourite Christmas film of this year

I've been watching some of the new Christmas films on Netflix and this one is my favourite. It's been told before (friends who are secretly in love with each other) but it's very sweetly done, the script has plenty of light humour and all the characters are warm and likeable. Plus it snows at the end .

To be fair, there are some shockingly bad new Christmas films on Netflix this year so it didn't have much competition to be my favourite.

I mean Father Christmas is Back is so incredibly awful that I gave up about a third of the way through. So many talented actors (and Liz Hurley) all wasted on a rubbish script and plot.

I still need to watch that one. Love Hard has been my favourite this year so far

The Scottish castle one was so bad I gave up and I always watch cheesy Xmas movies to the end Grin

LutherRalph1 · 24/12/2021 20:38

I liked this one

Have you watched Father Christmas is Back? Dreadful!

ParadiseLaundry · 24/12/2021 20:38

I've been struggling my way through Single All The Way the past few nights 😔 I really want to like it and the cast is fantastic and the characters are all really likeable as you say OP but I just can't get into it.

You're right about something else though Father Christmas is Back is bloody awful. I'm all for a slightly naff Xmas film but that's another level.

I did really love Love Hard though!

Jbck · 24/12/2021 20:40

I loved this too, balanced out Castle for Christmas. 😲

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/12/2021 20:44

I'll have a look at Love Hard, thanks.

Sorry.
Watch The Holidate I loved it.

rooarsome · 24/12/2021 20:48

I really wanted to like it but I found it quite dull.

mnahmnah · 24/12/2021 20:55

I reluctantly watched it was was pleasantly surprised. Much better than I thought it would be!

I found Father Christmas Is Back quite good fun, daft and enjoyable

It's true that nothing at all exciting happens in it, and you know what the ending will be from the very start of the film, but I find that soothing occasionally. Pretty people, pretty scenery, nothing to tax my brain in any way.

The Christmas Prince was dire - give it a miss!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/12/2021 23:32

I'm about two thirds of the way through Love Hard and, while it's good, I'm finding the constant awkward entanglement a bit tiresome and clunky. Or maybe I'm just too tired for Christmas films now, I might finish it tomorrow.

About four years too late for that warning. Grin I have also watched its two sequels, each one slightly worse than the one before it.

It only appeared in my Netflix recommendations yesterday @BlackAmericanoNoSugar - didn't realise I was so late to the party (but thanks for the heads up on the sequels - I'll give those a miss!)

ISpyCobraKai · 24/12/2021 23:59

I really enjoyed it too, and Love Hard

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 25/12/2021 00:15

Love Hard did have a lovely happy (if contrived) ending. I felt very sorry for Tag though.

She need to make a follow up with him as a main character Xmas Grin

ISpyCobraKai · 25/12/2021 01:47

They, not she!

CliffsofMohair · 26/12/2021 20:55

Santa Girl. Weirdly misogynistic and controlling Santa, sinister Jack Frost, cast of teens who seem like they’re attending Bible college. V v odd.
