House of Gucci

Anyone seen yet?
I saw yesterday, cinema was packed with over 50’s so maybe people that remember the court trial etc. I don’t at all and knew nothing about the Gucci family.
I really enjoyed it, it romped along. I like GGa in it, apparently her accent is bad but I couldn’t tell one way or the other.
She does get a bit comedy baddie towards the end and there is a scene with the two hit men and her psychic that is like from a farce movie but otherwise I liked her. The actor that plays paolo the son/ cousin of Driver is terrible though. His acting is very OTT, the actual Paolo has died or I think there’d be lawsuits flying for misrepresentation

I quite enjoyed it. Clothes and houses amazing!

It was v soapy though, so you didn’t really get to know and engage with the characters.

I also thought the Salma Hayek character Psychic was bizarre. If she wasn’t an actual real life character and didn’t really exist, the writers would never have invented her as her role was so strange. The mud bath scene is

I thought it was really hard going and actually kept falling asleep in the cinema. We left with about half an hour to go so not sure if I missed the best part of the film.

I love Adam Driver so he was always going to be brilliant for me. The rest of the actors were comedic and the accents were terrible. It could have been such a brilliant film. I absolutely love Gucci but this should have been a sky cinema watch for me 🤣🤣

Well she was a clairvoyant so I’m guessing she was pretty odd. I am pretty sure the cousin was very exaggerated though. Too much of an all star cast so not enough focusing down on characters was the problem I think. But I did enjoy it.

One other thought I had was how hard it is for family businesses to keep going for generations especially when set up initially by siblings. In this case two brothers (although their father started it all). One the siblings start their own families things will always get complicated with children and wives etc and heirs and money and disagreements.
Lots of family firms go that way and private equity pounces. It must be a known problem in that world?
You can’t be sure to have sensible business minded children and even if you do you can’t be sure they’ll get on with their cousins and rivalries must be inevitable. Wives and second wives and the various children involved, who gets what and why. God it’s a minefield and luckily not a problem I have

Massively overlong and very boring.

First half enjoyable, second half zzzzzzzz

The Gucci family is really upset over the movie, how their characters are portrayed in the film making them look like a group of selfish people.

Overlong, but we enjoyed it.

Overlong... a bit 'hammy' some of the acting - love the cinema, but friend and I both nodded off in the middle Selma Hayek's character & Paolo were charicatures and a bit pantomimeish... Didn't feel any attachment/affinity to any of the characters, as there was no real depth imo. So his death didn't 'feel' real... 6 out of 10 for me. Thought lady GG was 'ok' but better/more convincing in Star is Born (maybe because she could relate more?) Not keen on Adam Driver just because I saw him in some snooze-fest where he was a sort of navel-gazing tiresome monk type...

I don't know why films are all so long these days - this, the Bond Movie, The Last Duel, King Richard - all weighing in at around 2 hrs 30.

Just seen it, was so disappointed! Was looking forward to seeing it and everyone in our party was bored! Way too long and nothing really happens and most of the characters turn out to be horrible, was a massive let down and would not recommend sadly!

I really enjoyed it and I generally hate longer films and an not really interested in fashion. The only reason I saw it was because I went with friends who wanted to see it so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I didn't think too deeply about it though!

I enjoyed the film but omg Jared Leto almost spoiled it for me. He's just ridiculous in it, like a caricature no one could ever believe.

The first hour or so I was loving it. And then it just became soooooo boring, I could easily have fallen asleep.

House of Gucci is absolutely amazing. Also, the movie took nearly 15 years to complete and is totally worth it, especially its cast. However, the Gucci family is really upset over the movie, and how they have been portrayed in the film.

I enjoyed it. I find Adam Driver really really unattractive looks wise though and am always amazed when people think he's gorgeous.

It was a pleasant surprise for me, watched it on a long haul flight as it was seemed to be the best of a bad lot, would never have watched it otherwise, but I totally enjoyed it. I thought Lady Gaga was great.
