Does anyone remember a 1980s film called I want my dad. It was about a little boy with an alcoholic father. I'm sure it was a British film.
I remember seeing this film when I was about 12 years old in the late 80's and the film resonated with me so much at the time as I too had an alcoholic father. I have googled but cannot seem to find the film. Does anyone remember it?

I saw the film at a relatives house and not at the cinema. I don't think it was ever on at the cinema.

Most likely this is a remastered 2008.

Shattered Spirits?

il have a look at shattered spirits but I'm pretty sure it was called I want my dad or might have been I want me dad. it was from the video rental shop I'm actually now thinking it may have been Australian and not British.

don't think it was shattered spirits as I remember it just being about a single father and his son who was just a little boy. it was quite a sad film, I just remember bits of the film as it reminded me of how my own dad was he would promise me things whilst drunk then always let me down and the disappointment I would feel, it was the same for the boy in the film. He would spend hours sat outside pubs in the streets waiting for his dad to come out.
