Just watched this and really enjoyed.

The actor was really good, and conveyed expressions well.

Loved the song Sarah Lancashire sang - my favourite out of the whole film.

Who's Jamie Campbell?

He was a 16 year old schoolboy from Durham (they changed the musical to Sheffield) who was told by his school that he couldn’t go to prom wearing a dress. The story was told in a documentary. The line from Ray “it boils my piss” was taken directly from something his mother’s friend said (her name was changed).

He’s now in his mid 20s and still invites his mum to everything.

Skint mum with a heart of gold and her quirky mate. School bully. Best friend that’s also maligned. Has-been with a story to tell. Mean dad. Come-uppances neatly followed by a jolly all-comes-right-in-the-end. 🙄

It is based on a true story though.

I saw the show in London and absolutely loved it, I thought the film adaptation was spot on as well.

Erm...

Just been to see the live show and loved it. Story is very Billy Elliot but drag queens, but the great songs and the whole production make it a great show. Jamie was amazing!

We watched it on Prime last night - loved it. So what if it was cliched, it has good songs, great performances and was touching and heartwarming. Just what we needed for a Saturday night.
