haven't seen the film but felt compelled to post that I had coffee the other day with the illustrator who did the titles.

I hadn't actually seen the film advertised so had to smile and pretend I knew all about it. Now, of course, I;ve noticed it everywhere. I live an exciting life me.

Lol - I remember DH telling me all about some guy he knew who had done model making for a film, and I had to nod and be interested and pretend that I had heard the hype.

Then he took me to the cinema to see said film... Gladiator [blush)

The two girls really did not get how important the connection was between human and deamon, I had to point out to them afterwards about the slap.

Also, they did not get what Intersection was, again I had to explain that in some depth before they really understood it.

I sound like a mini hitler about it - but really they so wanted to understand it all properly and had lots and lots of questions!

BTW, I am not sure these are really spoilers, but I don't want to take any chances!

We felt the same that it just wasn't that depth of relationship

Ma Costa saying she would get his daemon seemed very misleading

was to illustrate what a person becomes without a deamon - if they survive at all. The horror with which the boy (in the book) was treated was lost totally by making the change to it being Billy because, of course someone like Ma Costa would welcome her son regardless of his daemon.

Also, it will make it more difficult to explain the way Lyra is treated in the next film once she has travelled across.

I wonder if I have thought about this film too much...

I loved it too - can you tell?
