Frozen the Musical is the ice monster scary?

Has anyone been to Frozen the musical? I want to take my 4 yr dd but she is very scared of the snow monster that chases Olaf and Ana from the ice castle. The show advises age 6 and up but it looks great.

I haven’t seen it but a friend has and I asked about if it’s scary as my DS is 6. They said there’s a few loud jumpy bits every so often and that some of the little kids sat near them were slightly clinging to their mums for the snow monster bit! But don’t think that but would last long I guess. The show’s age guidance is it’s recommended for age 6 upwards FYI.

Sorry just saw you have seen the age guidance. Given it’s not a cheap show I’d probably wait until I didn’t have any doubts they might find it scary as it would be sad if they got scared during the show and had to leave etc. Generally if something scares them on TV it will be even more intense in “real life” with all the loud sound effects etc. (I speak from experience having to take my DS out of Disney on Ice when he was 3 because of Ursula 😂)

I’ve seen it & no scary ice monster so don’t worry about that. Its loud & a few surprises but didn’t notice any kids getting scared near me. My DD is 6 and she LOVED it. It’s absolutely fantastic, spectacular & mesmerising from start to finish. Go for it, you won’t be disappointed!

My DD 4 fell asleep during The Lion King because she was just too young. I'd take their advice and wait till she's 6

SuperStarRose · 27/09/2021 16:28

Till then just go to more local and age appropriate shows

I took my DS to see The Tiger who came to Tea' when he was 4 and he was so terrified we had to leave

Not scary but IMO 4 is too young to enjoy/ sit quietly throughout, and it’s £££.

Just been tonight. It's a great show and very family (young dc) friendly.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 14/10/2021 01:05

Oh yes and zero monster involved!

Gemma2019 · 14/10/2021 01:40

I went yesterday and it was brilliant but no way would I take a 4 year old. Nothing scary but it will be too much for them and too long.

Onemoresadsong · 17/10/2021 10:52

I’m going to go against what everyone has said and say it’s fine to take a 4 year old. You know whether they will sit still or not. Took mine who recently turned 4 yesterday (and a 5 year old too). They were mesmerised and haven’t stopped talking about it. But then she’s always loved watching dancing and singing so I knew she would have the attention span for this.

The show is brilliant and no scary I’ve monster!

Sorry to jump on your post. Thinking of taking my LO for her birthday, the week before she turns 4. I am happy she will be able to sit quietly and enjoy it, but I wondered if anyone who has been could let me know about if they check the children's age? It says no entry for under 4's but I'm assuming a few days under would be fine? Thanks for any info you might have xxx

Username7521 · 31/12/2021 19:32

We went before my DD 4th birthday. She loved it, wasn’t scare and no one checked ages @BabeWithThePower89

Ohshitiveturnedintomymother · 31/12/2021 19:41

I thought they were now saying no under 5s? Too many people treating it as a kids event rather than a professional west end musical.

MissBattleaxe · 31/12/2021 19:42

The under four rule is probably so that some young children don't disrupt the show for the enjoyment of other people who have spent £££.

LadyGAgain · 20/01/2022 17:09

We just went. It's 4 and overs. There is no snow monster. It's the most amazing show. My youngest is 5 and I don't think I'd have taken her younger than that. It's spectacular though so enjoy!!
