I remember watching this when I was a kid in the 80s. It was made either in the 80s or perhaps late 70s. I think it was American.

Thete are 3 or 4 kids. They are in the car with their mum and her unpleasant father. They stop at a playground and then the adults drive off, leaving them there.

Any ideas what this film was called?

I can picture the film in my mind, and it's not the film of this book, as that was made more recently. Similar plot, though a bit different. There is no nasty partner in that book, and the mother leaves them in the car in that book, whereas is the film I saw, the kids are left in a playground and the adults drive off.

There was a TV series called throwaways (based on a book) where kids were left in a car and ended up working in a rubbish dump.

Is there a film of Homecoming? I will check that out. I loved that book (but clearly don't remember it as well as I thought).
