Looking for some films to watch as a family with our 8 yo dt. Trying to branch out from pixar etc. Looking for non animated films with adventure that don't make me want to tear my eyes out. We've enjoyed Fly away home, the new Swallows and Amazons, Secret Garden. They also liked the Sound of Music, the Blues Brothers, Wonder and Yes Day. Ok with swearing, slap stick violence but not anything too scary or sexy.

Agree that you should try the new Jumanji movies. Really good fun for kids and parents!

Thanks very much for all the suggestions. Should keep us going for a bit! DS liked the jumanji films but too scary for DD. Haven't watched the Goonies myself so we should definitely try that.
