Please help me find the name of this film!

All I can remember is this man meets a woman outside some fancy building. I think they get involved with each other, there's some drama. In the end she escapes/takes off, possibly with some money - he goes back to where they first met and right there on the wall is engraved the name she gave him. So she gave a fake name, which was the twist at the end. PLEASE can someone put me out of my misery??

Yes, sounds like Closer which is based on a play by Patrick Marber.

The central theme of Closer is truth. In one scene Alice (the one who's hit by a car) is asked by Larry to tell him her name, to tell him one truth. The play goes full circle with Alice being hit by a car at the beginning which is how she meets Dan and she is killed by a car at the end. No one can identify her, so Dan is flying to the States to do it.

Her name at the end is her 'truth' after she's dead.
