Films for boys sleepover

Anyone got any good ideas for a sleepover film for 11 year old boys? Ideally a 12 so they feel like it's a treat!
Have there been any really fun (and not too violent / sexual) adventure or thriller films recently?

Men in Black international is on netflix and surprisingly enjoyable. Love and Monsters is also good. Or any Mavel? Guardians of the Galaxy is v fun.

Go old school retro! The Goonies, Indiana Jones, Bill and Ted, ET, Top Gun?

Fruityfriday · 28/06/2021 20:32

Godzilla vs Kong

Justmuddlingalong · 28/06/2021 20:33

My 1st thought was The Goonies too.

SummerHouse · 28/06/2021 20:35

The new Jumanji films are excellent.

Love and Monsters.

Post apolcalyptic. Enough shocks to keep you on your toes.

Not sure of rating but 'Stand by Me'?

beela · 28/06/2021 20:37

Back to the future?

Eleoura · 28/06/2021 20:38

I just remembered that 'Stand By Me' has alot of swearing, kids smoking and the dead body, so may not be suitable at all!

A Quiet Place
The Village

CathyorClaire · 28/06/2021 20:54

Van Helsing

The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Reign Of Fire

I'd advise making it clear to the other parents that you intend showing a 12 though. I definitely recall at least one who made a point of checking we were staying age appropriate.

Undersnatch · 28/06/2021 20:56

We just watched ET with 10yr old nephew who loved it - so did we!

ParisNext · 28/06/2021 21:08

Jumanji films definitely and new Marvel etc

CheddarGorge · 28/06/2021 21:11

The others... it's pretty scary for kids but nothing that will traumatise them. Watched it with my dd 11 and she really loved it

Ready player one

@CathyorClaire I went to a sleepover when I was 12 and the mum had rented trainspotting video for us to watch. My mum wasn't too happy when she found out!

Sean of the Dead (if other parents agree)

In other words, absolutely perfect 😁

Sean of the Dead (if other parents agree)
Not sure the C bomb in the first 5 mins would go down well 😂 🤦🏻‍♀️
SirSamuelVimes · 28/06/2021 21:29

Sean of the Dead is a 15 though, and the OP said they were 11/12 year olds. I'd be pissed off being asked to approve a 15 film for my 11 year old as a) I wouldn't want to be the one parent that said no and was then blamed, or b) if I agreed it would then lead to 'but I watched a 15 at X's house and you said it was ok, why can't I watch this one, and this one, and this one?'.

Better to stick to 12 ratings.
