Cruella?

Can't believe there's no thread on Cruella yet! Went to see it with my two teenage daughters this week. Was soooo good! Surpassed all my expectations. Amazing costumes and set, Emma Stone and Emma Thompson both brilliant. Really cool soundtrack. Like a dark(er) 'Devil Wears Prada'

In my mind Cruella is an older woman, and I thought Glenn Close make a great Ms De Vil. Does Emma Stone not seem very young in the role?

I thought that it was one of the better live action Disney films. Great performances from Emma Stone and Emma Thompson, and I liked the other characters too. The sound track is killer, and I loved the over all style of the film.

I read the 101 dalmatians book years ago, and saw the original Disney animation. This film Cruella is a complete reimagining rather than a prequel I think. The original film was set in the 1950s, and this one is the 1970s. Might as well forget the original, and just see this character in a completely separate film.

Was also going to ask about age suitability, I see it's a 12A, and wondering if ok for my 8 (nearly 9) year old.

I took my 6 and 9 year olds and was a bit worried about it being a 12A but it was absolutely fine and they both loved it.

I really enjoyed Emma Thompson in it which is rare for me,usually I can't stand her.I think she's better as a baddie.

Sounds like the storyline makes very little sense as a prequel to the original.

Yes I can't stick her either but yes as a baddie she's mesmerising 🤣

I've not seen it but confused as to how a prequel showing 'The Bad Guy's Side' is meant to end? It's not exactly going to be 'Happy Ever After', so does it just sort of fizzle out or what?

I wasn’t that fond of it. She ended up being really mean to those that were here chosen family. I also thought Jasper was a bit in love with her. Maybe I put my own poor designs on it?

Just back from seeing this at cinema with 10dd. We both totally loved it. Disney got very dark. 10/10 from me. Will be playing the soundtrack all weekend.

Suitable for mature 8 year old? Keen to go?

Same here. Everything about it.

I thought the comedy side- kick duo would be annoying, as comedy side- kicks always are, but they were very sweet and likeable.

I thought it was awesome

The film is really great.
