Can anyone remind me of the name of a film about an alien who is sent to earth with a message. He meets up with a woman who is a scientist, I think, but to make it less scary for her he assumes the form of her deceased father. I think one of the final scenes is on a beach looking out to sea, as he is about to go back to wherever he came from and she realises he is not actually her father.
It’s got to be 20 or more years old, and I’d really like to see it again.
I thought the alien was played by Jeff Bridges but I’ve realised I was mixing it up with Starman.
I might have mixed up the final beach scene with another film too - the tsunami movie where the father and daughter save a lot of people but are too late to escape themselves.
