I saw it about two months ago and would agree, though it is difficult to watch (for good reasons).

We saw it last night by accident. I really do miss authentic films like that.. those raw British films, similar to Billie Elliot.

the80sweregreat · 22/11/2020 17:29

It was good but incredibly bleak and raw.
The one that played lynn was very convincing. Nice to see ' little mo' from EE in it.

@the80sweregreat a good description.

@buildingbridge I agree that films like this are becoming rarer. No idea why as there are still great writers around.

I like these type of films. 'Make up ' was on the other week and I enjoyed that too.
They used to make lots of ' kitchen sink ' type dramas / films in the 60 s and 70s then it became science fiction or more action movies that were popular. This made a change despite the sad story.

I don't normally sit through a full film, but found this to be engaging and thought provoking.

HollowTalk · 22/11/2020 18:41

Do you know if it's on catch up?

the80sweregreat · 22/11/2020 18:46

Yes, our taping is hit and miss on the tv at the moment ( not sure why?) so I looked on i player and it was on that.
Make up was on there too I think.
Both are sponsored by the British Film Institute.

HollowTalk · 22/11/2020 19:01

Oh great, thanks!

peak2021 · 29/01/2021 19:15

I saw it via Iplayer. A very good film I thought.

Didn't rate it much

I'm not sure what we were supposed to believe about Lucy? And what the child saw?

First Lynn's child said she did see the baby's mum shake him at one point before. Then when Lucy died the child said she'd lied. So I wasn't sure which is true. Then at the end we saw Lynn's child in the courtroom which I presume just have meant she was giving evidence saying she did see the mum shake her at one point.
