New Death On The Nile - Can't Wait!

Is anyone else desperate to see the new flashy version of this? It was supposed to be released this month I think but has been put back to 18 December now.

I have really missed going to the cinema, and to be honest there aren't many films I would risk the exposure for, but this definitely counts. I am a huge Christie fan and the cast looks amazing - so excited to see French and Saunders reunited Grin

The only thing puzzling me is how they are going to write in the fact that Linnet Ridgeway is so much older than she should be. No spoilers, but it's integral to one of the plot points that she is 20 years old, and has had no control over her vast fortune. Gal Gadot is 35, so nowhere near the right age, although of course she is stunning.

Emma Mackey, who plays Linnets school friend, is only 24. I cannot wait to see her portrayal of Jacqueline de Bellefort, and Russell Brand as Dr Bessner. I hope he really camps his role up!!

Anyone else?

Me too!!!

TartanSlippers · 11/10/2020 11:32

Me too, one of my friends is in it.

GinnieHempstock · 11/10/2020 11:32

Yes, me too.
I’m a huge Christie fan and am always a bit nervous about film and television adaptations.
I was worried Kenneth Branagh wouldn’t “be” Poirot, but I absolutely loved Murder on the orient express, even if there were a few liberties made with the plot.

CoronaIsWatching · 11/10/2020 11:36

It doesn't look very good, was it even filmed in Egypt? I think I'll stick with the David Suchet one.

Mrsjayy · 11/10/2020 11:37

Murder on the Orient Express was on TV recently I loved it was wonderfully over the top. So looking forward to Death on the Nile.

SugarHockeyIcedTea · 11/10/2020 11:40

They better not butcher it. Agatha Christie is my go to author, I was raised reading her and Death on the Nile is a classic.

I'm still on the fence about the last adaptation and don't even get me started on the BBC recent ones!

That said, I may be a cantankerous sod who's set in her ways...

Ah, I thought it was rubbish. Such a shame given the stellar cast. Consequently, I don’t hold out much hope for the next one Sad
Mrsjayy · 11/10/2020 11:50

I really enjoyed it, I mean he is no David Suchet but it passed a Saturday evening.

kursaalflyer · 11/10/2020 12:02

I'm looking forward to it but am not expecting it to be brilliant. KB's Orient Express was a travesty and don't get me started on the last Ordeal by Innocence. Unless something can be improved upon I can't see the point of these remakes.

Zilla1 · 12/10/2020 12:48

U..stinov.

Zilla1 · 12/10/2020 16:44

it seems albert finney.

nosswith · 13/10/2020 20:32

I saw the trailer when at the cinema a couple of weeks ago, and I will give it a miss. Even though a friend has worked with Sir KB.

AuntieJoyce · 13/10/2020 20:36

The KB MOTOE was not great

But Russell Brand as Dr Bessner sounds inspired Grin

youngestisapsycho · 30/12/2020 22:58

Just seems a whole waste of time and money.... we all know who did it 🤷🏼‍♀️
