Has anyone else seen this? What did you think of it??

Ooh, I've read the book, but not seen it yet. Is it good?

Distressedchic · 13/09/2020 19:33

I watched it..... I had no idea what was going on.
So I read up on the explanations. Still no idea of what happened Grin

CarlottaValdez · 13/09/2020 19:34

I thought it was fantastic. Really interesting and amazing performances.

DuesToTheDirt · 13/09/2020 19:39

I've watched the first 45 min or so and was interested but not gripped. Is it worth watching the rest?

I guessed what was going on 10 mins in and my husband went off to bed in a strop because he knew I was right Grin

I think I loved it, I liked the female lead a lot.

@pepsicolagirl
Please put me out of my misery, what was it all about? Just a brief sentence would do Grin
I am awful at understanding films anyway, I watched Tenet recently, very entertaining, again no real idea what was happening.

AmandaHoldensLips · 13/09/2020 19:48

I enjoyed it to a point but then must have nodded off on the sofa because when I woke up everyone was dancing and I had absolutely no idea what was going on.

PotholePalace · 13/09/2020 19:54

I really liked the female lead too, will definitely keep an eye out for her in other things.

The film itself I found unsettling, at various points expected something gory or a bit twilight zone to happen. Only fully understood the end by reading about it afterwards but it now makes sense. I often daydream in a similar way. Can't say for sure if I enjoyed the film but am glad I watched it.

I felt I wasn’t smart enough to ‘get’ it. It looked great, the actors quite mesmerising in a way. Left me thinking ‘meh’.

All the references to Oklahoma!, I kept expecting her to break out into ‘when he needs me’.

Jessie Buckley, she’s great in everything I’ve seen her in. And Toni Collette and David Thewlis as the parents.

I quite liked it, I knew what to expect having heard Kermode’s rather disparaging review on the radio. The performances were what made it watchable for me.

MOB247 · 24/09/2020 14:31

Just watched this and I am so confused. I've never read the book so no idea what's happening?

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 24/09/2020 14:35

Great performances throughout, loved the look, and a very unsettling, dream-like watch, but I was left a bit 'meh' tbh, like @Flavabobbleva: totally come together for me (even when I got the central conceit...)

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 05/10/2020 15:17

I haven't read the book and was a bit 'huh'?! when it ended. After reading some reviews on IMDB things are a bit clearer, still really random and not what I was expecting though.

rosegoldwatcher · 14/10/2020 21:13

Absolutely awful. Possibly the worst film that i have ever seen.

sociallydistained · 18/10/2020 12:18

I sometimes love a film where I don't know wtf is going on... like Mulholland Drive! I felt this one went on a little too long for my liking but I enjoyed the performances. Did I get it? No lol

neveradullmoment99 · 15/04/2023 13:00
